PHFC Awarded Top Rating
TALLADEGA -- Talladega’s Presbyterian Home for Children has been given a top rating by a national organization providing user reviews of charities and nonprofits.
According to a press release, the Home was named a 2020 top-rated nonprofit by GreatNonProfits.
The Presbyterian Home “is one of the few organizations in the state caring for Alabama’s homeless boys and girls, along with their female caregivers, in its secure dwellings program,” the release says.

(DPRT) is being formed for the purpose to develop a disaster plan for the Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley and assist churches to form their plan. UPDATE: PHFC Thrift Store Monthly Donation day at SVPC
The next collection date is Saturday,
December 5, 2020. Bring your usable discards, gently used clothing, etc., to the Presbyterian Home for Children's reception center in the rear parking lot, below the playground of Shades Valley Presbyterian Church. Volunteers will be on hand to unload your vehicle and to give you a receipt for your tax-deductible donation. The center will be open from 8 AM - 12 noon. To volunteer or for more information, contact Jonathan Ahern at 1-256-368-8109.

What is a Matthew 25 church?
Matthew 25:31–46 calls all of us to actively engage in the world around us, so our faith comes alive and we wake up to new possibilities. Convicted by this passage, both the 222nd and 223rd General Assemblies (2016 and 2018) exhorted the PC(USA) to act boldly and compassionately to serve people who are hungry, oppressed, imprisoned or poor.

The Presbytery’s Executive Council has approved a mission project, Project Empathy, in which we are trying to raise $50,000 to eliminate $5 million of medical debt in 10 counties in the Black Belt. One dollar donated eliminates $100 of debt.
We are asking your help in publicizing this Project to your churches and members. Below is a Zoom video about Project Empathy. It is 4 minutes long and can be used on your church’s online worship service, Facebook page, etc. Please contact me if you have any questions.
