Web services (or web APIs) provide advantages over other applications to access data stored within the FIN databases. The FIN programs have recently developed web service tools to allow data users to more easily access information and automate data analyses and visualizations. FIN web services are already being used by scientists at the AFSC, demonstrating the potential utility to other FIN data users.

A brief technical issue with the satellite data made the Bering Sea briefly appear cooler but nope, technical problem solved...the bigger problem (near record warming) persists...

As West Coast highly migratory species (HMS) fisheries have changed over time, fishery stakeholders have requested that managers take into account fishing portfolios when considering proposed regulations on HMS fleets. A team from NOAA Fisheries, PacFIN, and the Pacific Fishery Management Council has developed new reports providing detailed information on cross participation of HMS fleets in other West Coast fisheries. The new reports benefit managers and stakeholders as they consider potential changes in fishery management and regulations.
Recreational Fisheries Information Network
RecFIN and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) recently modernized their data transfer procedures to utilize a web application programming interface (API). This upgrade will provide accurate and seamless data sharing between WDFW and RecFIN, ensuring data integrity and improving data availability to RecFIN data users.
The Marine Recreational Information Program’s Modern Fish Act investment funds will support regional data collection priorities and the implementation of specialized state surveys.
Due to continuing concerns regarding COVID-19, the RecFIN Technical Committee will hold its Fall meeting via webinar in early October, 2020. This meeting provides RecFIN the opportunity to meet with its partner agencies to discuss recent and ongoing RecFIN projects and future directions for the program.
