Luke 2:25-32
This week we hear of Jesus being presented by Mary and Joseph in the temple as Jewish custom mandated. An old man, Simeon, had been waiting there for years. He had been told by God that he would see the Messiah before he died, and when Jesus was brought in he immediately recognized him for who he was. In night prayer we've adapted Simeon's words to be: "Protect us Lord, as we stay awake, watch over us as we sleep. That awake we may keep watch with Christ, and asleep rest in His peace." May we place ourselves in God's hands at the end of each day?
On the way to Mass: In today's Gospel we will hear of an old man with a big hope. What is something big you are hoping for?
On the way home from Mass: How do you think Simeon knew who Jesus was?
Challenge of the Week: Try memorizing this line from night prayer! "Protect us Lord, as we stay awake, watch over us as we sleep. That awake we may keep watch with Christ, and asleep rest in His peace."
