John 8:3-11
This week we hear the story of the woman caught in adultery. Imagine the array of emotions she must have experienced: shame at being found out and made a public spectacle, fear at the calls to stone her, and confusion when Jesus bends down to write in the dirt. While we do not know her thoughts or feelings completely, we have been in her place before. The time we are caught stealing a cookie before dinner, lying about breaking something, acting like we know more than we really do. Even though our circumstances are different, Jesus responds exactly the same to us today: he does not condemn us, but he does urge us "Go, and sin no more".
On the way to Mass: How does it feel to be caught doing something wrong?
On the way home from Mass: Do you think the woman from the Gospel was able to go and sin no more?
Challenge of the Week: When times of correction happen this week, receive them as chances from God to learn from and fix your mistakes. Receive them with humility and reliance on his grace.
