PSR families,

As a reminder, we are modifying our class on March 5th which is Ash Wednesday. We will be opening our time together at 5:15 with a Liturgy of the Word followed by the distribution of ashes. All parents, siblings, and friends are welcome to join us! This will not be a full Mass, since Ash Wednesday is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation. Following our prayer service, students will return to their classroom for a make-up lesson. Dismissal will be as usual at 6:30pm.

Looking Ahead:

March 5th: Ashes and Class

March 12th: Class

March 19th: Class

March 26th: Class and Confessions

PSR has been chosen to host the March 7th Fish Fry!

We will be selling 50/50 tickets, with the proceeds being split between the winner and our program. We are looking for a few students and parents to help sell tickets---email Emily if you are able to assist!

*Great service opportunity for our Confirmation students!*

We have also challenged the students to fill the table on Wednesday with desserts! Store bought or homemade (nut free) desserts are welcome.

Keep up the great work!

Can't wait to see you on March 23rd

as we explore what it means to

be a follower of Jesus.

See you on March 5th for class!

Report an absence here!

Luke 6:27-38

This week we hear how Jesus was led into the desert where he fasted for 40 days and was tempted by the devil. We too are entering into a time of fasting and prayer, as we celebrate this First Sunday in Lent. Our world is fueled by consumerism and convenience, which makes fasting contrary to our daily lives. We are asked in Lent to work against our nature by practicing some type of fast: from food, a comfort or pleasure. We undertake these acts of self-denial not to elevate suffering, but out of a pursuit of friendship and intimacy with Jesus. Fasting reminds us that we are utterly dependent on God.

On the way to Mass: Why do you think we give things up for Lent?

On the way home from Mass: Why do you think Jesus was able to resist the devil?

Challenge of the Week: Pick something as a family to fast from this Lent; perhaps eating out, screens during meals, or desserts.
