Mark 10: 35,37-45
This Sunday we hear of James and John asking Jesus to sit at his right and left in the kingdom of Heaven. Jesus reminds James and John, and all the apostles, that 'whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all." Jesus tells us that our leadership, our authority, should not be used for self-gain or self-promotion, but to serve and build up the good of all. The gifts we have been given by God; our power, wealth, leadership, etc. is shared with us that we may use it to bring those around us closer to God.
On the way to Mass: What makes someone a good leader?
On the way home from Mass: How can you use your gifts to help others?
Challenge of the Week: Let us work on building each other up this week. During family time; at a meal, in the car, or bedtime prayers share 1 thing you admire about each member of the family.
