1. Cancer Crisis Virtual Town Hall

When: Thursday, November 19 at 7:00 PM

Where: Click here to register. On Zoom & streamed live via Center for Coalfield Justice Facebook page.

A year ago, the Pennsylvania Department of Health told community members that they would fund an investigation into an increase of rare cancers in the region of Southwestern Pennsylvania. We invite you to join the Center for Coalfield Justice, Mountain Watershed Association, and Physicians for Social Responsibility Pennsylvania for a virtual town hall meeting to learn more information on the state of this investigation. Attendees will hear from a panel of experts including journalist Justin Nobel, Dr. Marsha Haley & Dr. Ned Ketyer. There will be opportunities to ask questions & learn how to take action.

2. PSR National Virtual Gala

When: Thursday, November 19 at 6:00 PM

Where: Online

PSR National is excited to host their first ever Virtual Gala! Normally, they would be welcoming you in person in Washington DC, and presenting awards to individuals and organizations for their exemplary efforts in combating climate change, addressing environmental risks and nuclear weapons abolition. However, due to the COVID-19 global crisis, they have decided to stream this event straight to the safety of your homes.

The theme for this year’s gala is The Way Forward. Their goal is to bring you an interactive experience that celebrates PSR’s accomplishments on the national and local levels and unveils a new vision for how we, as organizations of health professionals, meet the intersectional challenges of climate change, security, and racial equity in this extraordinary moment.

Save the date! On December 1, 2020, join the movement to give - whether it’s some of your time, a donation, or the power of your voice in your local community!

Giving Tuesday , the global day of giving, encourages individuals to reflect on their blessings and support a cause they believe in. Help care for your local Pennsylvania community by keeping PSR PA in mind during this charitable season.

COVID UPDATE: Pennsylvania COVID-19 Early Warning Monitoring Dashboard Update for Nov. 6 – Nov. 12: Case Increases Top 26,000; Percent Positivity at 9.6% and 59 Counties with Substantial Transmission - Click here for a Pennsylvania COVID-19 update. Governor Tom Wolf reminds citizens to protect one another by following public health guidelines. The update reviews community transmission, cases among 5-18 year olds, business visit transmissions and travel recommendations.
