Senior Prom at PSS Andrew Jackson Center
Queen Geraldine Hardy and King Jose Calderone display their crowns at "A Moment in Time." This "senior prom" was inspired by the center's co-op interns who attend night school and never got to attend a prom of their own. Pictured here is one of the creators, Johnnie, who welcomed guests. Enjoy more prom pix on the PSS Andrew Jackson Center Facebook page.
SU-CASA Exhibits from PSS Highbridge
BronxNet was onsite for the concluding community celebration of the PSS Highbridge Center's SU-CASA program. Featured here are some of the paintings created by members.

SU-CASA is the community arts engagement program that places artists and organizations in residence at senior centers across the five boroughs of New York City.
Taking the Temperature at PSS King Towers
Members of PSS King Towers recently set up Kinsa smartphone-connected thermometers. The device will allow them to see and track their health through an app. The goal is to catch any illness at its earliest stage. Did You Know?
Six decades ago, many churches in the Presbytery were concerned about the seniors in their churches who needed support, services, and affordable housing. A committee of Presbytery members was formed that became PSS (Presbyterian Senior Services). One major goal of the committee was to advocate for affordable housing. As a result, Fort Schuyler House grew out of the committee's efforts. It opened its doors in the Bronx Throggs Neck community in 1973. PSS turns 60 years old this year.

Chat With the Expert
PSS this month began a new season of Chat With the Expert, a series co-produced with the Department for the Aging (DFTA).

Register today for these hour-long intimate conversations with experts covering all areas of interest to older New Yorkers. All sessions are free and take place on Zoom, but you must register for each session individually. They offer an opportunity for you to ask direct questions of the featured guest agency.

In the debut webinar on June 8, Pedro Salazar of Urban Upbound showed the many ways organized fraud operators use texts and emails that look like they come from a financial institution or shopping site such as Amazon.com to trick people into revealing information that puts their money at risk.
NEVER engage with one of these texts or emails. If you get one, contact the bank or merchant directly through their website or by phone.

Salazar also warned of unethical debt consolidation agencies that offer to help you negotiate and reduce your debt burden, but then go so far as to take over the power of attorney on your bank accounts without you knowing.
