A Letter from Glynn, Purdue Wesley Foundation Student Outreach Chairperson
|
|
Hello!
My name is Glynn Gallaway, and I am a senior in mechanical engineering from Fairview, Texas. I am also a student leader at the Purdue University's Wesley Foundation. This semester I am the "Freshman Outreach Coordinator."
As a freshman coming to Purdue from Texas, I found Wesley to be inviting and welcoming when I was still adjusting to college life. Our campus pastors, Glen and Lana helped me and many other students feel at home, and act as parents to every student at Wesley.
College is a very formational time for everyone, and having a church home helped me continue my faith journey in college.
I have made life long friends here, and I want to help new students coming to Purdue do that as well.
Please fill out the form below if you know any students at Purdue, and I will reach out to them.
Finally, Purdue Wesley is 100% supported by donations from Parents, Alumni, Supporting Churches, and even current students! We receive no financial support from the conference. Keep reading to find out how we could use your church's assistance.
In Christ,
Glynn Gallaway

Connect YOUR Purdue Freshmen, Grad Students, Ivy Tech, and Transfer Students in the Greater Lafayette area with Purdue Wesley
|
|
If you know of any students in your congregation coming to Purdue, we would love to connect this summer. If they happen to be on campus for STAR days, they are welcome to stop by our building right across from Purdue Memorial Union. This summer we are open 10am - 8pm.
We are also happy to help students find local congregations in the area.
|
|
|
Students donate lots of time and effort at Wesley, but we also love it when local churches, alumni, and parents join us through prayer, donations, and volunteering.
|
|
Some ways you can support Wesley this summer to help us get ready for all:
- Sign up to bring or sponsor a Sunday evening meal ($75-100) or Finals week brunch ($25-50).
- Contribute volunteer time or money to our new accessibility ramp/deck project so all students can come in and out!
- Be a host or help make food at our new Global Connections Cafe on Fridays 4-6pm.
- Make a one time or continuing donation through the conference, to Wesley directly, on PayPal, Facebook, or Patreon. (https://www.patreon.com/purduewesleyfoundation)
- Look for more information in our spring Cornerstone newsletter that just came out. It is on our website.

Connect Students with Campus Ministries at Other Universities

Have a student not going to Purdue? There are Wesley Foundations on campuses across the nation, and every campus has student ministries even if it's not a Wesley Foundation! Here are links to Methodist Campus ministries on other Indiana College campuses, including IU!

Some of our tips from Glynn for new students:
|
|
- Find out what student ministries exist on campus (google and school activity fairs)
- Don’t be afraid to “Church shop” a little
- Give every church a few weeks, sometimes it takes time to feel more comfortable.
- If one church doesn't work, any campus pastors would love to help you find what you’re looking for!
- Don’t doubt that we love and accept you, because Jesus said so!
