Good Practice: Choosing Continuing Education Courses
Physiotherapy practice is diverse and there are many courses and learning opportunities available to members. It is important to look closely at the curriculum and content of available courses and to reflect on the relevance or value of the content to the member’s practice before registering and spending time and money taking it.

Research in Focus: Effects of Mirror Therapy on Walking Ability, Balance and Lower Limb Motor Recovery After Stroke
Mirror therapy involves the use of a mirror placed in the mid-sagittal plane to create the illusion that the affected limb is performing the movements that the unaffected limb is performing.

Technology in Practice: EMR First Steps
So, you’ve decided to implement an Electronic Medical Record System (EMR) in your office. Congratulations! Now comes the challenge of researching and implementing the system.

Quick Survey: Why did you/did you not attend Physiotherapy Alberta's conference?
Earlier this year, Council decided not to host a conference in Fall 2018. This allows time to survey our members in an attempt to understand why you would or would not attend a conference. What can we do to increase attendance rates so that our profession can come together to LEARN + CONNECT with other talented physiotherapists in Alberta?  Your feedback can help inform conference planning for 2019. We want to hear from you so please consider taking the survey.

Renew Your Practice Permit

Members may now renew their practice permit for the 2018/2019 registration year. While your current practice permit does not expire until September 30, 2018, you must renew by midnight September 15 to avoid paying the $125 late fee.

Is Your Profile Up-to-Date?

All members have an online profile which serves two purposes. Members can view information that appears on their registration record and secondly the profile can be used to report changes to contact information, employment and education.  You have a legislative responsibility to ensure your registration record is up-to-date and changes are reported within 30 days. When was the last time you looked at your profile? Does your profile list the site(s) where you physically deliver physiotherapy services? e.g., site vs consulting company

Volunteer Opportunities

Each year Physiotherapy Alberta hosts a BBQ for students entering the Physical Therapy program at the University of Alberta. If you are interested in contributing an item for us to give away as a door prize, let us know! This is an opportunity for you to get your organization's name out to the new students. For more information, or to donate, email Haylee at horeilly@physiotherapyalberta.ca.
Continuing Competence Program
When will the New Continuing Competence Program be launched?

There are several activities that must be completed before the new program is launched. Currently the most pressing matter members can help with is to provide feedback on the Program Rules.
