Stand Up and Shout Out Loud...
This class is FUN!

Isn’t learning how to captivate an audience something that everyone could benefit from? Why not start at an early age when it’s easiest to grasp concepts and overcome fears. This class is all about inspiring kids to do great things! And the best part is that it is fun, too!

Through interactive games and fun activities you will learn how to:

• Stand out in a crowd using specific tips for success.
• Craft your message
• Improvise - sometimes acting goofy is the best way
to overcome fears!
• Team build and lead others

The class will culminate with an interactive presentation for family and friends.

Tiger Tough Relay Race and Obstacle Course
Dear Medina Families,
As many of you may remember, we had a wonderfully successful fundraiser in the Dance-A-Thon last year, with hundreds of people in attendance for the party on that Friday evening. I was thrilled to see so many of you involved on the night of the party as well as during the week. There must have been at least a few dozen parent volunteers helping to make this such a huge success, raising over $60,000.00.
This year, our goal is bigger, better, and muddier !!! Over the past few months we have been planning an event to challenge all washing machines and basin sinks. We would like to proudly introduce the first ever Tiger Tough Relay Race and Obstacle Course. We have been working with the city of Medina and the Parks Department to incorporate Medina park into our plans. Like last year, the kids and staff will be creating projects supporting our event. Also like last year, we will have a DJ, food trucks, and prizes. We are also fortunate to have luxury home builder Todd Lozier, of Lochwood Lozier Construction, in charge of constructing many of the obstacles.
There will be additional details to follow, but the most important message I would like to convey is the importance of having you parents involved in any way shape or form. It could be running the race alongside your child, helping with set up, encouraging kids to work together, and finding whatever way you can to support our kids, school, and community.
There will be more details to follow, along with sponsorship opportunities and ways to donate (both time and money).
Lastly, if you have any questions, or suggestions of ways you can help add to this event, please send us an email atian.olsen@rate.com or cjmonty72@gmail.com
Looking forward to another fantastic school year!
Ian Olsen and Carrie Montigue.
Chess Club
We have an amazing Chess Club at Medina Elementary. Chess Club starts this year on Wednesday, 9/26. We welcome students from all grades and of all experience levels. The 2018-19 season will run from September to May with 26 sessions through the school year. Registration is now closed. For more information, please check the   PTA Chess Club webpage .  If you have any questions about Chess Club, please contact  chessclub@medinapta.org .

Start time is 12:15 pm. Pick up time is 1:25 pm. Advanced Chess ends at 1:50 pm .
Runners' Club
Please join us every Wednesday and Friday morning from 7:30-8:00am. You do not need to sign up please just show up before school and walk or run. Many studies show that children who regularly exercise score higher on tests and have lower signs of ADHD. We track the laps the children run and give them small foot tokens for every 5 miles run.

Runners' Club will start September 12 and we will try to run until early November. PLEASE NOTE: We do not run in the rain.

If you have any questions please email me at   cjmonty72@gmail.com
Missoula Children's Theatre
Save the Date for Missoula Children's Theater -- December 1st, 2018 and Call for host families!

We are excited to welcome Missoula Children's Theater  back. This year’s performance will be the unique interpretation of the treasured children’s classic, The Secret Garden

The week starts off with auditions at 2:35-5pm on Monday 11/26, culminating in performances on 12/1 at 3pm and 5:30pm. Rehearsals are every day during the week from right after school to 7pm. Once your child is cast, please commit to have your child present at rehearsals every day.
This year Missoula Children's Theater Audition is on the Monday right after Thanksgiving, which poses special challenges for planning. We'd really appreciate it if you could  pre-register for the audition . It will greatly help us plan for the audition and rehearsals.
We are also calling for two host families for the touring directors from 11/25 afternoon to 12/2 . It's a great opportunity for your child to have artistic and cultural exchange with the directors, plus your child is guaranteed a part in the play and waived participation fee. We need your help to pull this event off! If you have any questions or if you are interested in being a host please contact Liang Sun at  programs@medinapta.org
MCT is sponsored by the Medina PTA, and you must be a PTA member to enroll your child in this activity. For those of you who are new to our school, the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) is the Nation’s largest touring children’s theatre. You may find more information at MCT page  on PTA website.
