Box Top Collection Week is October 15-October 19th
- This is a great competition to raise funds for our school just by looking at products you already purchase! Bring in the box tops of those participating products you already use (e.g. Ziploc Bags, Progressive Soup, Motts Apple Juice, Kleenex tissues, several cereal brands, etc)

-Bags will be distributed to the teachers (mailboxes).

-Each child should bring their Boxtops to their classroom. Or they can drop them off in the Boxtops collection box in the office.

-Please trim the Boxtops and place them in a baggie, noting the teachers name .

-The class collecting the most Boxtops in each grade level will win an extra recess!

Technology is here to stay. By understanding the effects of technology and social media on the brain, on our lives, and on our civilization we can learn how to navigate it more safely together.

This film, by the producers of SCREENAGERS and ANGST, strives to inspire people of all ages to self-regulate their technology use, especially kids. It doesn’t focus on blame, but rather it encourages people to look in the mirror and feel empowered to create balance in their lives and learn to be there for each other. Includes post-film panel of experts, followed by Q&A. Rec: 11+.

After School Basketball
There was an error with LocalHoops sign up last week that placed everyone signing up for Thursday session on waitlist. They've corrected the issue. There are still spots available if you are interested.

Locahoops is an elite basketball training academy, specializing in skills development for young athletes. LocalHoops is hosting basketball sessions on Thursdays from 2:45-3:35pm in the gym, from 10/4-12/13(no class on 11/26). It's open to grade 2-5.

The goal for this 10 week program is to teach the fundamentals of basketball through a structured learning environment. Athletes will be trained on ball handling, proper shooting technique, footwork into a right hand & left hand layup, initiating contact offensively and defensively, and general basketball IQ. Our Academy emphasizes respect, discipline and hard work. We ask that all athletes come ready to listen and learn, we will handle the rest!

Players are expected to bring their own basketballs every Thursday!

Runners' Club
Please join us every Wednesday and Friday morning from 7:30-8:00am. You do not need to sign up please just show up before school and walk or run. Many studies show that children who regularly exercise score higher on tests and have lower signs of ADHD. We track the laps the children run and give them small foot tokens for every 5 miles run.

Runners' Club will start September 12 and we will try to run until early November. PLEASE NOTE: We do not run in the rain.

If you have any questions please email me at   cjmonty72@gmail.com
Missoula Children's Theatre
Save the Date for Missoula Children's Theater -- December 1st, 2018 and Call for host families!

We are excited to welcome Missoula Children's Theater  back. This year’s performance will be the unique interpretation of the treasured children’s classic, The Secret Garden

The week starts off with auditions at 2:35-5pm on Monday 11/26, culminating in performances on 12/1 at 3pm and 5:30pm. Rehearsals are every day during the week from right after school to 7pm. Once your child is cast, please commit to have your child present at rehearsals every day.

This year Missoula Children's Theater Audition is on the Monday right after Thanksgiving, which poses special challenges for planning. We'd really appreciate it if you could  pre-register for the audition . It will greatly help us plan for the audition and rehearsals.

We are also calling for two host families for the touring directors from 11/25 afternoon to 12/2 . It's a great opportunity for your child to have artistic and cultural exchange with the directors, plus your child is guaranteed a part in the play and waived participation fee. We need your help to pull this event off! If you have any questions or if you are interested in being a host please contact Liang Sun at  programs@medinapta.org

MCT is sponsored by the Medina PTA, and you must be a PTA member to enroll your child in this activity. For those of you who are new to our school, the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) is the Nation’s largest touring children’s theatre. You may find more information at MCT page  on PTA website.
