Because the winter has been mild so far, now is a great time to enjoy an outdoor urban hike, and celebrate the diversity that is the Pathway to Adventure Council! The newly crafted Pathway to Adventure Council Trail is your solution. Get to know and how your support for the Council by hiking or planning a service project for your community along the Trail now!  More information can be found on the PTAC website.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS
Advancement Reports Needed for Purchasing Advancement Items
Beginning in 2020, Pathway to Adventure Council Scout Shops will require Advancement Reports to confirm a unit’s accomplishments when purchasing restricted advancement items such as Cub Scout, Scouts, and Sea Scout ranks; Venturing advancement awards; Webelos activity badges; merit badges; and various other awards available in all BSA programs.
 
To obtain a copy of your unit's advancement report, you can use Scout Book.

Temporary Scout Shop and Office in Highland, Indiana
Due to renovations at the Robert J. Welsh Scout Service Center in Munster, Indiana, we have opened a temporary Scout Shop and office at the Highland Office Center 2646 Highway Ave. Suite 206, Highland, IN 46322.  The Highland Scout Shop and office will be open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am- 4:30 pm.

Thank you for your flexibility! We look forward to re-opening the Robert J. Welsh Scout Service Center later this year!
COUNCIL RECOGNITION
Congratulations to our Silver Beaver Recipients
The Silver Beaver Award is presented by the National Council, Boy Scouts of America, through the local Council to adult volunteer Scouters for their distinguished service to youth and their community. The Award is intended to acknowledge noteworthy service of exceptional character to youth by registered Scouters including but not limited to Cub Scouters, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts and Exploring leaders within the territory under the jurisdiction of Pathway to Adventure. It is considered to be the highest award a Boy Scout Council can bestow upon a volunteer Scouter.

2020 Council Recognition Dinner

Youth Recognition Dinner

All of Pathway to Adventure Council's award recipients and their parents are invited to join us in this amazing celebration of Scouting's highest awards.

Congratulations to our NOESA Recipients
The NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA) is a prestigious recognition granted by the Pathway to Adventure Council’s NESA committee to Eagle Scouts whose efforts have made a positive impact in the community. This year, we are pleased to present Kevin Browne, William Hooks, Barrett Pedersen, and Jeff Strack with the award. The National Council has also named Joe McCurdy as one of their NOESA recipients. Congratulations!

Please join us on March 7 as we recognize all of these outstanding Eagles at a reception at the Plumbers Union Hall, prior to the Youth Recognition Dinner. Details on the reception will be available soon.
Congratulations to our Alumnus of the Year
The Council Alumnus of the Year Award is the Scouting Alumni Association’s highest council recognition. The award was established to recognize alumni of the Boy Scouts of America who, over a sustained period of time, have used the skills and values they learned through their association with Scouting to make significant and long-lasting contributions to their local communities through their careers, avocations, and Scouting. The Pathway of Adventure Council is excited to present Steve Towne with the Alumnus of the Year Award!

ACTIVITIES
PTAC 2021 National Jamboree Contingent
The National Jamboree is the ultimate Scouting experience - and we want your Scouts to participate! Registration is now open for Pathway to Adventure Council's contingent to the 2021 National Jamboree, held July 20-31, 2021, at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.

Pathway to Adventure 2021 Philmont Council Contingent
PTAC is now accepting registrations for the 12 day Council Contingent to Philmont in Cimarron, New Mexico. Philmont, known as Scouting Heaven, is 137,000 acres – 214 square miles of rugged backcountry in the Sangre de Christo Mountains. Participants will spend 11 days backpacking, enjoying the beautiful scenery and experiencing the exciting programs offered along the way.

Leave Chicago, Saturday, July 3, 2021
Depart Philmont & return to Chicago, Saturday, July 17, 2021

Trip cost is $1,995** per person (price subject to adjustment pending travel costs)

ADVANCEMENT
North Park University Merit Badge College
North Park University Merit Badge College is a STEM-focused day of learning at a 4-year private college lead by counselors that are professors. Classes are small and last year this event sold out a month in advance. Inspire your Scout with a higher learning experience on February 29th.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE
2020 Camp Staff Applications
Pathway to Adventure Council is excited for summer camp 2020 to begin! We are now accepting applications for paid and volunteer camp staff positions at Napowan and Owasippe. Staffing summer camp is an amazing experience for Scouts and Scouters alike!

2020 Camp Counselors-In-Training Applications
Do you know a scout who has strong leadership potential, is high-energy and is ready to try out camp staff? We're looking for applicants for 2020 Camp Counselors-In-Training (CITs) at Camps Napowan and Owasippe. Counselors-In-Training must be 14 years old by the start of summer camp and must be willing to spend several weeks as a volunteer member of the camp staff.

Camp Rentals
Pathway to Adventure Council owns and operates four beautiful camps. Our camps are open year-round and are great locations for Scouts of all ages to experience and learn what the great outdoors offer!

TRAINING
Registration for Wood Badge 2020 is now open!

This exciting and revised course is now only FIVE DAYS ; Friday, September 18 through Sunday, September 20 and Saturday, October 3 through Sunday, October 4. 
The course will run at Camp Frank S. Betz in Berrien Springs, MI and the cost is $275 if paid in full by July 19, 2020

The 2020 renewal for all Merit Badge, Nova and Super Nova Counselors starts now!
It is time for Merit Badge, Nova and Supernova Counselor renewal! To renew, please review the Merit Badge Counselor and Nova/Supernova renewal letter. Make sure to click the red button on the bottom of the letter to fill out the renewal form.

Please note that we need all Supernova Mentors and Nova Counselors to submit a separate copy of the new Background Check Authorization form, in addition to the copy you may have filled out with your unit . This form may be scanned directly to Mary.Demski@Scouting.org .
