2021 Potawatomi Trail Hike - Hosted by Takhone Lodge #7

The long-standing tradition in the region's Scouting history will take place once again. Hosted and planned by the South Area of Takhone Lodge 7, this event will complete hiking requirements for Cub Scout and Scouts BSA ranks, and provide chances to camp.

Push yourself to complete the Three Dune Challenge, hike the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan, enjoy the nature center- the possibilities are endless at the Potawatomi Trail Hike.

The Potawatomi Trail Hike is a great opportunity for Scouts and Scouters as well as their families to experience some of the wonderful resources in our own backyard.

All races will be held virtually and live-streamed on Saturday, but car check-in will be held on Friday, March 19, 5:00-6:30 pm at Homewood Chevy (18033 S. Halsted St.)

Races begin at 12:00 pm and will run continuously until complete (~ 2:00 pm). Races will be run by rank starting with Lions.

IOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills) training introduces the adult Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, or Crew Advisor to the outdoor skills learned by Scouts through First Class rank. This includes interactive sessions on cooking, fire building, orienteering, knot tying, and much, much more! All Scouters are invited, including committee members, Webelos leaders, and any other interested adult leader.
BALOO Cub Scout Leader Training

BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation Training) is the Cub Scout leader training required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor event, including pack camping overnighters and Webelos den overnighters. This course also replaces the previous OWLS Course.

BALOO training is comprised of two components—an online component and this practical, hands-on component. Both components must be completed to qualify as a “TRAINED” Cub Scout outdoor leader.
