IOLS Training

IOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills) training introduces the adult Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, or Crew Advisor to the outdoor skills learned by Scouts through First Class rank. This includes interactive sessions on cooking, fire building, orienteering, knot tying, and much, much more! All Scouters are invited, including committee members, Webelos leaders, and any other interested adult leader.

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)

BALOO is the Cub Scout leader training required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor event, including pack camping overnighters and Webelos den overnighters. This course also replaces the previous OWLS Course.

BALOO training is comprised of two components—an online component and this practical, hands-on component. Both components must be completed to qualify as a “TRAINED” Cub Scout outdoor leader. The online component is available through the BSA LearnCenter at my.scouting.org and must be completed prior to the practical component.
Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training

Cubmasters, Den Leaders, and Pack Committee members, we are here to support you! Training is the first important step to your success as a Cub Scout Leader. Seasoned Cub Scout Volunteers are dedicated to supporting you along your journey. Is your required basic training complete? Visit My.Scouting to verify. If you would like to connect with others and complete your basic training in person, select one of these dates/locations to complete your required Cub Scout Leader Training. It is free to attend!

Keep outdoor activities and camping alive all 12 months of the year! Our train the trainer program will provide you with the knowledge and materials to share knowledge and skills learned to conduct cold-weather activities and camping within your units. Learn about winter travel, sleep systems, equipment and tents, cooking and nutrition, snowshoes, cross country skiing, and outdoor winter games.
Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Specific Training

Scoutmaster & Assistant Specific Training provides Scoutmasters and Assistants with the basic information and tools they need to lead successful Scout troops. This course along with Introduction to Outdoor Leaders Skills (IOLS) is required training for all Scoutmasters and Asst Scoutmasters to be considered trained for their position.
