Jewish Spirit and Appalachian traditions beautifully meet on common ground
Don’t miss our upcoming Musicians-in-residence, Nefesh Mountain. This incredible band brilliantly weaves bluegrass and Judaism to create a moving and spiritual musical experience like no other. Their musicianship is of the highest caliber and they bring a refreshing spirit to the world of Jewish music. 
Friday, Mar. 15, 6:30 p.m. Shabbat services - Nefesh Mountain will join Elana in leading us in soulful and uplifting worship.
Saturday, Mar. 16, 7:30 p.m. - A free concert experience that will blow your bluegrass socks off followed by a dessert reception sponsored by the PJCC. Please RSVP here.
Sunday, Mar. 17, 10:45 a.m. - A special concert for our Rishonim students and families.
Purim Carnival
Join us Sunday, March 24 for the Purim Carnival including a new Tot Zone with bounce house. 
Purim story and singing at 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary 
Costume contest with prizes at 10:40 a.m. 
Carnival Games will be open 11 a.m.-1 p.m. 
Wristbands for Unlimited Games: Pre-K or younger $10; Kindergarten and up $20.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!! The PTBE Purim Celebration and Carnival is scheduled for Sunday Mar. 24 but the Carnival will only happen if we have volunteers. We need many volunteers to help the day of the carnival so please sign up.

New
CHANGE TO CAMPERSHIPS GRANT PROGRAM - Camperships to support PTBE children and teens who wish to attend Jewish summer camps and Israel programs will no longer be "need based" but rather are offered to all PTBE families regardless of financial need. Grants come from a variety of sources in the temple. The application deadline is March 31. All submittals will be reviewed with responses/scholarship amounts to families by April 5, 2019. RISHONIM
Community Shabbat Dinner Friday, Mar. 1 6:15-7:15 p.m. - Thank you to everyone who RSVP'd. If you did not RSVP, please join us for the Tree of Life Shabbat Service at 5:30 p.m. (for younger families 3rd grade and below) or the Shabbat Hallelu Service (for families with older children) at 7:15 p.m.

This Sunday, Mar. 3 9:30-11:30 a.m. - Our 1st and 4th graders will be making over 300 sandwiches for Sunday Sandwich Hevre (SSH) helping to feed hungry people in our community. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Parents can donate their time and sandwich supplies to help make this program a success. Please click here to sign up. WNP HIGH SCHOOL
All High School Wednesday, Mar. 6, 6:30-8:00 p.m. (6:00 for those signed up for dinner) - We will have a guest educator leading a deep dive into the wily women of the Purim story. Through creative reenactment, he will take the themes of agency and consent that we see in the Purim story into a modern-day dialogue for teens. Dinner will be Mexican food. Learn more here...

PTBE & BEYOND

Calling all WNP and Rishonim parents - We want YOUR voice in the community-wide listening campaign about Tikkun Olam at PTBE. Please sign up here for a special Wednesday or Sunday house party gathering, geared towards parents in our Ed programs, to share what matters most important to you about being a member of PTBE, and to hear from others!

The Nueva School Feminism Club (Chaired by PTBE Senior Kayla Wagonfeld) is excited to host the 4th Annual Nueva Feminism Conference on Mar. 2! The conference is a public event open to people of all ages and genders, and we hope to raise awareness about gender equality and discuss Feminism in the 21st century. Topics addressed this year will include: intersections between Judaism and Feminism (Rabbi Lisa Kingston), the role and importance of people of color and women of color in American democracy (Aimee Allison), confidence and presenting our authentic selves (Joanna Bloor), and sexual assault/sexual assault prosecution through the Brock Turner case and more (Alaleh Kianerci). The conference is from 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Nueva Upper School, 131 E. 28th Avenue in San Mateo. A bagels and fresh fruit breakfast from Noah's and a Mediterranean lunch from Village Hummus are included. We hope to see you there! Check out this flyer and Register here.

Host Families Needed for Teens - Local host families are needed for teens coming in July from Cyprus (Christian Greek Cypriots and Turkish Muslim Cypriots) and from Israel/Palestine (Christian, Jewish and Muslim teens in partnership with Jerusalem Peacebuilders). The teens are placed in pairs in host families - one teen from each side of the conflict. The teens are trained in peacebuilding, leadership, and communication skills.

Did you know that you can go to Israel this summer FOR FREE with other Bay Area people? There are only 4 trips this summer leaving from SFO, and we’d love for you to join one of them.
