Our current program coordinator, Dr. Naomi Meinertz, will be leaving PTC to be an assistant professor position at the University of Missouri - Columbia where she will continue to study family care partnerships and translate research into programs to improve the lives of older adults and their family members.
Although we are saying goodbye to Dr. Meinertz, we are excited to welcome, Malisa Rader, as the interim program coordinator who will start on June 30th.
Malisa has been with Iowa State University (ISU) for the last 20 years and has served as a human sciences specialist in the area of family wellbeing with ISU Extension and Outreach for the last 10 years. Throughout her career, Malisa has been dedicated to ensuring that children, families, and the communities in which they live are empowered and strengthened. She has been a PTC class leader since 2011 and became a master trainer in 2017. Since ISU acquired PTC, Malisa has co-trained new master trainers and continued to lead both class leader trainings and class series. Although she grew up in Alabama, she has embraced life in the Midwest where she and her husband of 32 years raised two now thriving adult children. Her Yorkie and American bulldog lab mix receive the spoils of her laid back empty nest lifestyle. Her philosophical approach to being – “Life is short. Buy the shoes.”
