Dear Discovery School Families,
As this school year comes to an end, as your PTO President, I want to take a moment to ‘Thank You’ for all of your involvement and participation in making this year as successful as it has become. Although we were not able to finish the year as planned due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus, I cannot help but reflect on my time as PTO President. You can bet this year will be a year to remember!
I am filled with gratitude for so many things: our amazing volunteers, our great sense of community, and the strong connections our children are making with each other and with our families. I am deeply grateful for the amazing teachers and staff who ensure that there is a safe and positive learning environment for our children every single day. Thank you for everything you did this school year to support Discovery through fundraising and volunteering.
This year I was very fortunate to not only serve as PTO President, but also work as an EA. Next school year you will find me again as an EA, as well as volunteering and serving in any capacity that I can serve.

- ALA Conference for Mrs. Shepard
- Teacher hospitality events throughout the year
- Copier Support
- $4,000 to teacher room accounts and much more.
Although there were so many great things we were able to do, there were some things we could not carry out due to the time we were gone for COVID-19 quarantine.
We look forward next year to hosting Food Around the World Festival along with new efforts to bring our community together and fundraise for our school. We are still working hard to bring you the STEAM Park we promised, however when working with the city and other entities we have learned it takes longer than expected. We are close to starting our fundraising campaign and we hope any resources you have can move us in the direction of completion.
We are always looking for connections to resources, so please keep us in mind and reach out to Dr. Maddux or your PTO via email or Facebook messenger. We hope you all have a great summer break filled with memorable family moments, until we see you again, stay safe!
Have a Great Summer,
PTO President 2019-2020
