It's time to contribute to the Annual Appeal!
Red envelopes recently came home with important PTO information, including contributing to the Annual Appeal. Paying for the Appeal is pre-paying for all field trips and enrichment activities for your child for the entire year. We are budgeted to spend $130 per child this year so that is our target contribution amount. Paying more helps ensure we don't have to cancel any programs for lack of funding. If $130 per child is a hardship for your family, any amount counts. Our goal is 100% participation at any level. Families that contribute any amount will receive a directory once published and will be entered into prize drawings. Contribute at
http://www.east-pto.com/donate-annual-appeal.html. Don't forget to apply for corporate matching if applicable. For questions contact Chrissy Roberts at
[email protected]. THANK YOU!

NephCure 5K Run or Walk Charity Event - Sunday, September 24th
Andrew Warhaftig is a junior here at HHS, battling a life threatening illness, and he needs our help and support on Sunday, September 24th. His family is planning a NephCure charity event (5K Run or Walk) in Wompatuck State Park on Sundaymorning 9/24. Andrew is battling a rare kidney disease called FSGS. There is currently no cure for FSGS and Andrew has already had 2 kidneys transplants, the first when he was eight years old and the second when he was fourteen. A transplant is just a temporary solution and the FSGS is currently attacking his transplanted kidney. Nephcure is the only organization doing research to find a cure for FSGS. His family hopes to see many HHS students and their families attend the event on 9/24. This would mean so much to Andrew. You can read Andrew's personal story about what he has been through by clicking on the link below. Please also use that link to pre-register by 9/21. Students may need a parent to help since a credit card is needed for the registration fee of $15 for walkers and $25 for runners, all going to the NephCure charity. Everyone who pre-registers will receive a shirt at the event at check-in.
Check-in/shirt pick up is at
9am
and the run and walk will start at
10am
