4th Grade Parents/Guardians - Request from Health Office
Please remember to provide the Health Office with a copy of your child's physical that is completed during this year (annual exam performed between 5/1/17 and 5/31/17). We are required to have a current physical on file for every 4th grader in keeping with MA General Law, c. 71, s. 57. Feel free to email the school nurse at

PTO Volunteers Still Needed!
Thank you to all who have volunteered to be room parents! All the room parent positions are now filled. Still want to be able to go into your child's classroom to volunteer? We are still looking for Get Smart About Art Grade Level Chairs in 2nd & 3rd grade. Have some free time at home but can't come to school to volunteer? The Pop Up Explorer Co-Chair position could be for you! Manage the online signup and print attendance sheets for the team that will run pop up explorers-you do not need to attend the pop up event day. Feeling in the holiday spirit already?? How about Co-Chairing the student loved Snowflake Sale? All volunteer positions with descriptions can be found by going to

Directories are coming - contribute to the Appeal today!
Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far. If you have not contributed to the Annual Appeal, please do so as soon as you can so we can accurately plan for and book all field trips. We are budgeted to spend $130 per child this year, but a contribution of any amount will get you a Directory when they're published in the next few weeks, and get your children entered into great prize drawings - like Gym Teacher for the Day being raffled off to one child from each grade on 10/27. Halloween Bash - Monday, October 30th
It's that time of year again for the East School Halloween Bash! Join us from
4-5:30pm

in the East School Cafeteria for DJ, Pizza, Halloween Games & more. Cost: $5 pp/$20 max per family. Please return your forms to your child's homeroom teacher. This is a well loved event for the kids, so please help make this year's party a huge success by volunteering for one of the various short time slot positions available.

The Hingham Women's Club is proud to offer a NEW business sponsorship program for 2017/2018 that helps recognize and support local Women run businesses..In order to qualify, applicants must be women owned or run with a Business based on the South Shore (ideally Hingham) and the business must have some track record of charitable involvement or giving. If you are chosen to be be a sponsored business then the HWC will: place your logo on the HWC website with a link to your business for one year and one month a year the HWC will be dedicated to each business. Each month there will also be a feature in the HWC newsletter linking it to all our social media outlets.

Hingham Education Foundation (HEF) Spelling Bee - Sunday, November 5th
The Hingham Education Foundation (HEF) is proud to continue a time-honored town-wide tradition this year with the 7th Annual HEF Spelling Bee
on Sunday, November 5th, 2017
at the Hingham Middle School. Many of your children have entered this year's competition, and we are thrilled to host them.
The Spelling Bee, which has nearly 350 entrants, is also an event that is organized and run by more than 75 volunteers from our community. Many parents find that volunteering to help at the Bee is a way to experience and enjoy the event alongside their children and their peers. We warmly welcome anyone who wishes to help with this important day, and sincerely appreciate your time. The typical time commitment is approximately 2 hours for each volunteer role. Hingham Chess Club at Hingham Public Library
Hingham Chess Club (HCC) at Hingham Public Library Fall program will start on
Wednesday, September 20th

4-4:30
for Beginner Lessons.
Advanced Lessons will begin on Thursday, September 21, also at
4 pm
and ends at
5:00
.
All lessons are held in the Whiton Room at Hingham Public Library.
Immediately following each lesson is Open Play, which is an opportunity for anyone to practice his/her chess skills and expand his/her interest in chess.
Open Play runs from
4:30 to 5:30 pm
on Wednesdays and
5 to 6 pm
on Thursdays.
All HCC lessons at Hingham Public Library are free, however to help offset the costs to fund the program, a suggested session donation of $10, or donation of any amount, is gratefully accepted by HCC.

The Corner Stop Eatery is holding its third annual month-long fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. We will be donating 10% of sales for the entire month of October, and selling raffle tickets for a $20 donation. With your help, we've raised over $46,000 to date!

Thursday, Nov 8th is SEPAC's Monthly Business Meetings held 7:00pm - 9pm, at Hingham Public Library. We are happy to have SPECIAL GUEST HHS Counseling Director Heather Rodriguez, who will be presenting on the forthcoming 504 manual and will be available for questions.
We are pleased to announce that the Hingham Police have appointed Officer Dan Murphy as the town's new Special Needs Officer. The Hingham Police are committed to working with individuals with special needs and their families. SEPAC will host Officer Murphy at an upcoming Monthly Business Meeting as a special guest to introduce him further to our community...more details to come.
