Girls bring an important person in your life to come and spend a special afternoon dancing and having fun as DJ Cubey spins some tunes.

Box Tops Submission deadline February 24th
Your school's Box Tops Coordinator needs time to bundle and submit everyone's clipped Box Tops by the Fall deadline of March 1st. Box Tops do expire, so please send in your saved Box Tops by Friday, February 24th. Thank you so much for your support!!!
Valentines for Seniors
The East School Community Service Committee is once again organizing the making and delivering of Valentines cards for local Hingham senior citizens. Blank Valentines will be distributed to the classrooms next week and need to be returned by
Thursday, February 9th. Students can bring them back to the classroom and they will be delivered to the office for distribution. Volunteers are needed for making individually bagged/wrapped cookies to deliver with the Valentines to local nursing homes. Volunteers are also needed to deliver the Valentines to the local nursing homes. Announcing Get Smart About Art!
Throughout the winter and spring, your child will participate in GET SMART ABOUT ART: a series of in-class, parent led workshops in which a particular artist and corresponding art style is introduced and a follow up art project is completed. Your grade level coordinators organize the workshops and each session includes a parent volunteer presenter and several parent volunteer art project assistants. Runs January - June with a culminating Art Show & Film Festival June 7, 2017 at 5:30PM. We need over 40 volunteers per grade (including those of you who love to present) to make these workshops a success so please be on the lookout for an email from your grade level liaisons closer to your grade's start date.

Spring Leadership Opportunity: Field Day
PTO is seeking 2-3 volunteers to be Field Day - Subcommittee. Parent Volunteers will shadow the current Field Day Committee this year, be assisted by the current committee for 2017-2018 and become the committee chairs for 2018- 2019. This is the leadership opportunity for you if you enjoy event planning and have school spirit. This is a beloved event by all students and teachers and is very rewarding! Planning begins in late January/Early February until the event in June which is historically held the day before the last day of school. Guitar Lessons at Hingham Community Center
Hingham Community Center is excited to offer 2 new Guitar workshops taught by Chris J. Carter. Chris is a 1996 graduate from the UMASS Lowell music business program. He has 20 years of teaching experience and performs as a solo acoustic guitarist. This 2 hour guitar workshop will cover:
- The 35 most commonly used chords in open position
- Chord switching exercises to help you make smooth transitions
- Strumming patterns with ties and rests to spice up your rhythm playing
Requirements: at least one to two years of guitar playing experience;including the ability to read chord diagrams.
SNAP "A Morning at the Movies" - February 4th
South Shore Special Needs Athletic Partnership (SNAP) will be hosting "A Morning at the Movies." Join SNAP on Saturday, February 4, at the Hingham Shipyard Patriot Cinema for a 10:00 a.m. showing of the movie "STORKS" (rated PG). This is a great opportunity for your child with special needs to enjoy a stress-free outing at the movie theater, as the volume can be turned down and the lights can be turned up. No admission charge to special needs student and their families. Parents/guardians must stay with their child for the duration of the movie. Please contact SNAP at
