It is my privilege to serve on the Guardian Guild Executive Board as your president. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Minor in Language Arts. I come from a background in retail management and teaching. I taught third grade for five years at Plymouth Scholars Charter Academy. I transitioned out of full-time teaching to become a stay-at-home mom and focus on my family and two kids. I have been tutoring for the past seven years and began substitute teaching at LCA a few years ago. I now work at our church as the Kids Ministry coordinator.

I reside in Brighton with my husband, Dan, and our two children, John (6th grade) and Lilly (4th grade). We came to Livingston Classical Academy because of the curriculum and moral standards.  During the summertime, our family enjoys swimming, traveling and “glamping” in our RV along Lake Michigan!

Laura Restum

President

Hello, LCA Friends! My name is Dawn Raney, and this is my family’s 8th year here at Livingston Classical Academy.

I work as an office manager and bookkeeper for Ann Arbor Community Church, and I’m also a team leader and consultant for Norwex, (a company dedicated to safe and sustainable cleaning). My husband, David, is a professor of American History at Hillsdale College, and we have two children at LCA this year: Michaela (7th grade) and Benjamin (5th grade), while our youngest, Lillian (3rd grade), is a little closer to home and is enrolled at Wing Classical Academy here in Dexter (a fellow Hillsdale curriculum school).

David and I both enjoy being active with the Guardian Guild not only due to its steadfast dedication to supporting our students and staff, but also because some of the greatest people that we have ever met are fellow LCA parents, teachers, staff members, and students. Doing life with our wonderful school community is such a tremendous blessing!

Outside of school, my family and I enjoy spending time together: board games, movie nights, fishing, traveling to the UP, target shooting, baseball, riding roller coasters at Cedar Point (except for David), and taking care of our chickens.

If you haven’t been involved with the Guardian Guild as of yet, please come join us for a meeting sometime soon. We’d love to get to know you, and you can sit with me! 😊

Dawn Raney

Vice-President

I am honored to serve as the Guardian Guild Treasurer and continue on the Guardian Guild Executive Board. My husband, Bryan, and I live in Salem Township and have three children who all attend LCA: Julia (8th), Natalie (7th), and Trevor (4th). We are so grateful we were led to this community in January 2022, and I am so happy to give back.

After graduating from Seattle Pacific University with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I worked as a nurse in various hospital units for ten years. During my final three years, I served in leadership positions on my unit and on the hospital-wide Nursing Council. My nursing license is still active, and I continue to enjoy learning about health and wellness. While enjoying my years at home, I embraced leadership and service opportunities at church, in children’s ministry and women’s Bible studies. I love growing close-knit communities with kids and adults alike.

A passionate lifelong learner, I love the essence of classical education—teaching our children how to think and becoming people of character to serve our communities. I absolutely love history, geography, civics, and traveling. Last year, during the second semester, I served as a long-term substitute 3rd grade teacher at LCA. Having been called to continue my own education, I am now on a journey towards becoming a secondary social studies teacher, and I am excited to see what the future holds!

Erin Pack

Treasurer

I am happy to continue to serve as the Guardian Guild’s Secretary. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Finance from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I worked predominantly in financial planning, most recently at Fidelity Investments. Jeff, my husband, and I grew up in Las Vegas but have moved around quite a bit.

I loved working and helping clients, but I always knew I wanted to stay home with our kids. I have been a stay-at-home mom to Lucas (6th grade) and Lily (3rd grade) for over ten years. Our family has lived in South Lyon, MI, for eight years now. This is our third year at Livingston Classical Academy, and we are so happy to have found it. The curriculum and values the school provides are exactly what we were looking for in a school. I enjoy volunteering at our church, reading, and getting together with friends. Our kids are very active in baseball and dance, and that keeps us pretty busy. We look forward to a long partnership with LCA!
