The new Summit illness policy has recently changed based on the new Department of Health guidelines.
If a parent, sibling, or other household contact of a student is experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, the student must stay home and quarantine for 14 days or until a negative COVID-19 test is provided for the parent, sibling, or household contact.
Again, students who are family members or household contacts of an individual with COVID-19 symptoms should quarantine for 14 days or until the ill individual tests negative for COVID-19.
Please contact your child's school nurse with any questions.

Summit Public Schools Health Office Update
"When your child is absent due to illness"
The Summit illness policy has recently changed based on the new Department of Health guidelines.
Please see below what is required for return to school when your child is sick.
- Please call your Pediatrician. Your doctor can examine your child. Please note that a negative Covid test is now required in order for your child to return to school. Your child's siblings must also remain home from school until your child is tested and results are obtained.
- If the test is negative , your child can come to school once they are symptom free AND fever free for 24 hours (without any fever reducing medication).Your child's siblings may also return to school at that time.
- If the test is positive, your child will need to isolate for 10 days from the start of the symptoms and your family will need to quarantine at home for 14 days.
- If your doctor does not want to perform a COVID-19 test, then your child must remain home for 10 days and any siblings remain home for 14 days.
Feel free to contact your child's school nurse with any questions or concerns.

Did you know that.....
- Bacteria are becoming increasingly resistant to antibiotics.
- As a result infections are harder to treat.
- Seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional before taking antibiotics.
- Antibiotic resistance leads to longer hospital stays, higher medical costs and increased mortality.
- Always follow the advice of your health care provider.
- Always finish prescribed antibiotics even when feeling better.
- Never share antibiotics with other family members.
- WASH THOSE HANDS....!
