Happy New Year!
A word from your PTSA presidents

We are excited for 2018!   A big thank you to all the volunteers in 2017.  BRAVO!!!   We had so many of you help in the classrooms, at the Jog-a-thon, after-school enrichment, beautification day, the hearing & vision screening and last but certainly not least, winter wishes, which was a huge success this year!  We are excited to get to know more of you this year and the best way to get involved is to sign up for volunteer opportunities.  We know everyone is busy so the more support and help we can get the easier our volunteering will be.

We will be planning a fun get together in the near future to celebrate our outstanding volunteers and if you would like to learn more about becoming a Lakeview PTSA volunteer, please join us.  Details to come.

Cheers to you and your family for an outstanding and happy 2018!!

Pantry Packs
Volunteer Needed

Pantry Packs is a program that sends food home to families to help them get through the weekends.  A volunteer from Lakeview picks up the food once a month to be distributed to Lakeview families.  We could use a second volunteer to help with the monthly pick up.  Please contact Rachel Beto if you have a big car and are able to help.  Thanks!
PTSA General Membership Meeting
January 18

Please join us this coming Thursday, 1/18 at 7PM at Lakeview Elementary in the library.  Mrs. Frazier and Mr. Neugebauer will discuss A.L.I.C.E. and the Intruder Response and Reunification Procedures.     A.L.I.C.E., which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate, is a well-known training program used by many organizations and individuals to  prepare for and identify emergency situations.  Mrs. Frazier and Mr. Neugebauer will introduce the A.L.I.C.E. strategies practiced by staff, what drills look like for students, and the use and best practices of reunification procedures.

General membership session will follow.  You do not need to be a PTSA member to join this special meeting. (But we would love if you were! ;)

LWSD Needs Your Help
Providing Instruments for Students

It's a bad idea to take your tuba on the bus.   Consider the obvious problems: shoving it through the folding door, heaving it down the aisle, and jamming it onto a seat.   That's one reason why our schools purchase instruments for orchestra and band students to use at school. This policy also helps ensure that anyone who wants to play gets to play, regardless of their ability to purchase or rent their own instrument.

Unfortunately, our school-owned instruments are showing their age and the Lake Washington School District needs to purchase nearly $300,000 in instruments over the next five years.  We can't do it without your help.  Click here to learn more or to make a donation to help get instruments into the hands of kids who need them.
