11/15 PTSO Meeting Postponed
Due to prioritizing the process for hiring a new Wellesley METCO Director, WMS & WHS, and their respective PTOs have decided to postpone the November PTSO meeting scheduled for this Thursday, 11/15 in Boston until late winter / early spring (date TBD).  The timing of the hiring process and Boston meeting next week were in conflict, and we felt that assuring time for Boston parents to meet the finalists was a priority.  We will look forward to everyone's PTSO participation in Boston early next year.

Focus on Sleep
As part of Challenge Success' theme of Balance, the next focus will be on Sleep.  The goal is to learn more about the benefits of sleep, reflect on sleep habits and hopefully make changes to improve sleep quality.  There will be weekly discussion questions in Advisory as well as a general toolbox with a variety of suggestions.  Here is the link to the video your student(s) watched in advisory last week.   Ted Talk Video-The Benefits of of a Good Night's Sleep  After students watched the video, they were asked to reflect on the extent to which the video impacted their thoughts on sleep.  We would encourage you to watch this video and continue the conversation at home.

Self-Care and Self-Compassion Group for High School
Students  -  Starting Soon
Many students work extra hard to succeed academically, but experience real anxiety and stress. This can interfere with sleep, relationships, and physical well-being, among other things, and can eventually affect academic performance, emotional well-being, as well as family and social life.
How can ambitious students harness anxiety so it doesn't overwhelm them, improve self-compassion, while also continuing to strive and succeed?  HRS will offer a repeating, five-session workshop to help teens to build strategies for coping with anxiety, stress, self-criticism and pressure, to improve their capacity to care for themselves.
All teens welcome!
The group will meet Tuesday nights, this fall, from 5:00-6:30 at:
Human Relations Service, 11 Chapel Place, Wellesley
Contact: Dr. Lucas Baker-Siroty, Group Facilitator or Linda Galper, LICSW,
HRS Group Coordinator, 781-235-4950
Cost: $100 (for five sessions). Sliding scale fees are available.
