Each Fall, parents elect representatives to the WHS School Council.   School Council is comprised of students, teachers, parents and community members who all work together with Dr. Chisum to examine and make recommendations on school policies, as mandated by the state education department. School Council meetings are held monthly, generally on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 2:30 pm.

We have  two parent slots open for a 2-year term. The PTSO Vice-Presidents, Connie Burton and Andra Jensen are organizing the election this year.  If you would like to become a candidate, contact them at

WEF and the WHS PTSO are pleased to be partnering to present an evening on
"Raising Resilient Teens" on  Thursday, October 11 th  at 7:00 p.m. in the WHS Library .

Dr. Elizabeth Booma, MD, is the Director of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Consult Liaison Service at Newton Wellesley Hospital and brings a wealth of knowledge on this subject.  Joining Dr. Booma will be her colleagues from
Newton Wellesley Hospital's  Resilience Project.   The primary aim of
The Resilience Project is to support the development of good mental health in children and adolescents through close collaboration with parents and schools.

Challenge Success Activity Update
Over the next two weeks, students will be reflecting during Advisory on our Challenge Success theme of 'Achieving Balance'. For this activity, students will be asked to track how they spend their time during the final week of September and reflect on those time charts during the first week of October.

The Spelling Bee is an old school community spelling bee which brings the whole town together for an evening of fun and fundraising.
Over 50 teams participate in the Bee and represent local businesses, law firms, alumni groups, community organizations, and school PTOs, as well as student teams from Wellesley High School and Wellesley Middle School.

On Wednesday, November 14th, 7pm at the Sprague School Gym our community adult spelling contest and fundraising event is back for the 29th time!
This high spirited community event is right around the corner! How to catch the buzz:
  • Support the Bee -- CLICK HERE to make a donation or sponsor a high school, middle school or community team. Many levels are available for sponsorship from $125 to $2500. The Bee is our biggest fundraiser of the year!  Any amount is appreciated.
  • Bee a Team -- CLICK HERE  to register a team of three spellers for $500. Who knows whom you may be spelling against that night? Last year 54 teams participated in the Bee! Deadline for registering a team is October 19th.
