Worship with Us this Sunday | |
|
June 12, 2022 | 10:00am In-person and Facebook Live… later YouTube
If you will be with us in person, please note that our Covid Team has made an adjustment in our Covid protocols. St Louis City and St Louis County continue to document a steady rise in COVID-19 cases in our community. We are also experiencing this with church members and friends. Therefore, PUCC is moving from 'masks recommended' to 'masks strongly advised' until further notice.
Our scriptures are Psalm 8 – celebrating creation and our responsibility to it and John 16:12-15 when Jesus talks a bit more about who the Spirit is and what the Spirit does.
Our Annual Leadership Meeting will take place immediately following worship.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors
School is out, many supplies are used up, and children will be taller by the end of summer. Let’s help school children be ready for next fall. Parkway UCC is asked to provide 300 2-pocket folders for the Isaiah 58 Back-to-School event on 30 July. Underwear and socks for any ages, small children through adult sizes would be most appreciated. We are also invited to host a game, activity booth, or resource table.
Isaiah 58 serves our neighbors in the Choteau, Jefferson, Cherokee, and S. Kingshighway boundaries. As you are able, please consider donating 2-pocket folders, socks, and underwear and place in the designated box in the church lobby by 29 July. Contact Evelyn Buretta: burettaevelyn@gmail.com

Long time Parkway UCC member, Naomi Runtz, will be included in Return to the Opera—an exhibition by The Sharp Shooters Photography Collective at the Union Avenue Christian Church, 733 Union Blvd, St. Louis. For those attending the operas, the gallery will be open during the performances.
An Opening Reception for the artists will be on SUNDAY, JULY 10 FROM 12:30 TO 3:00 P.M. Parking is behind the church.

Ponder
For every shattered place. For every person in pain and grief. For you, from me, in sorrow and stubborn hope. Again and still and always.
BLESSING IN A TIME OF VIOLENCE
Which is to say
this blessing
is always.
Which is to say
there is no place
this blessing
does not long
to cry out
in lament,
to weep its words
in sorrow,
to scream its lines
in sacred rage.
Which is to say
there is no day
this blessing ceases
to whisper
into the ear
of the dying,
the despairing,
the terrified.
Which is to say
there is no moment
this blessing refuses
to sing itself
into the heart
of the hated
and the hateful,
the victim
and the victimizer,
with every last
ounce of hope
it has.
Which is to say
there is none
that can stop it,
none that can
halt its course,
none that will
still its cadence,
none that will
delay its rising,
none that can keep it
from springing forth
from the mouths of us
who hope,
from the hands of us
who act,
from the hearts of us
who love,
from the feet of us
who will not cease
our stubborn, aching
marching, marching
until this blessing
has spoken
its final word,
until this blessing
has breathed
its benediction
in every place,
in every tongue:
Peace.
Peace.
Peace.
