Worship With Us
Join us for worship this Sunday at 10am!

We are engaged in our summer theme Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5).

This week’s fruit of the Spirit: Faithfulness. Our scripture passages are
Hebrews 11:29-12:2… a list of multiple experiences of Hebrew Bible faithful characters and Luke 12:49-53… Jesus saying that he didn’t come to bring peace but came to bring divisions in households as people choose to be faithful above all else. These passages challenge us to look again at what it means to be faithful yesterday, today and tomorrow.

As always, we invite you to bring family and friends with you.

Parkway Speaker Series Presents
Sunday, August 18 | 11:15am Heritage Room
Everyone is invited to a discussion of the stories and themes of the book Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City.

This New York Time bestseller was written by Pulitzer-Prize winning author, Matthew Desmond, who spoke to our UCC General Synod in July. Clearly, housing security is a critical and complicated issue in our cities across America. How do understand this social justice issue and what can we do about it? Even if you have not read the book, please come and join in this important conversation. Books are still available in the church office. Several PUCCers will lead the discussion and Pastor Kevin will join the group as soon as possible.

We've Added an Extra Day: September 10!
You are Invited to participate in our upcoming professional photography session.

Photography Dates: August 22 & September 10

Families will receive a free 8×10 photo and a free directory. You will also have the opportunity to purchase more photos.

Bring a non-perishable item to your portrait session to be donated to Feed the Need. Lifetouch will make a donation to Parkway UCC for each photography session.

(Online appointments disabled on Sundays so as not to conflict with paper signups.)

Three and a half minute Pep Talk from Kid President to You as school starts up again. Some of his greatest pearls of wisdom are some of the simplest. A favorite? “If life is a game, are we on the same team?” [You may remember Kid President from worship earlier this summer?!]
My point, once again, is not that those ancient people told literal stories and we are now smart enough to take them symbolically, but that they told them symbolically and we are now dumb enough to take them literally.
