MOA Welcomes 121st President
Congratulations to Craig Glines, DO, MSBA, FACOOG, the 121st President of the Michigan Osteopathic Association. Dr. Glines currently serves as Director of Medical Education, Associate Medical Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center in Trenton.
Dr. Glines received his Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is one of 9 DO's in his family. He has served as Clinical Professor of OB/GYN at both MSU and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Kathleen Rollinger Honored with Women of Excellence award
The Women of Excellence honored Kathleen Rollinger, DO, with their 4th annual, Women of Excellence award at the 120th Annual Spring Scientific Convention. With her participation in numerous organizations in the healthcare world, Dr. Rollinger is well known among her colleagues. Her drive to be a leader stretches back to her days as a Girl Scout. This award joins her long list of honors she has received over the years.
The Women of Excellence reception began with comments from the Dean of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM), Andrea Amalfitano, DO, who took pride in noting Dr. Rollinger was in the MSUCOM Class of 1986. Friends and family joined her osteopathic colleagues in honoring her achievements. The reception included two past recipients of the Excellence award, Carol Monson, DO, MS, FACOFP, and Myral Robbins, DO,FAAFP, FACOFP.

The efforts at the 120th Spring Scientific Convention helped the Michigan Osteopathic Political Action Committee (MOPAC) nearly reach the goal of $25,000. So, we still need your help. Only 56% of the House of Delegates members and 11% of Convention attendees gave to the PAC.

The Time's Up movement has hit health care.
Meet two DOs helping lead the charge.
Time's Up Healthcare wants to take on the gender imbalance of leadership in the industry and hold existing leadership accountable.
In response to the #MeToo movement, advocates started Time's Up Now last year with a goal to correct systemic inequalities in the workplace. Earlier this year, Time's Up Healthcare launched as a group effort aiming to raise awareness of gender inequalities and sexual harassment in health care settings to ensure a safe and respectful workplace. The organization's 12-person advisory board leading the strategy includes two influential osteopathic physicians, Roberta Gebhard, DO, and Barbara Ross-Lee, DO.
The roots of women in osteopathic medicine go back to the profession's founding and the percentage of female DOs has doubled in the past 25 years. But recent headlines and studies indicate that there's still work to be done to achieve gender equality in the health care professions.
In April, the University of Southern California's cardiovascular disease fellowship was notified that it would lose its accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. The fellowship's accreditation was revoked a year after the
Los Angeles Times
published an article in which a fellow in the program alleged that another physician sexually assaulted her at L.A. County-USC Medical Center.
A recent survey about sexual harassment and discrimination among academic medical faculty published in
JAMA
found that nearly 70% of women respondents perceived gender-specific bias in the academic environment. Thirty percent of women respondents reported they had experienced harassment. (

The fellowship is a rigorous and comprehensive program that delivers tools and knowledge in four strategic areas:

- Collaboration between physician and administrative leaders to adopt business models that will improve health and assist in the transition to value-based payment.

Fellows meet in person for one day four times a year at the MHA headquarters in Okemos and virtually
in the months when fellows are not meeting in person. This format should give board members a greater opportunity to fit this valuable learning into their busy schedules.
