July 10, 2026

As Methodists, we are called to cultivate more disciples and deeper disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of our community and world. You are invited to join us on the journey.

This week

Join Us for Worship

The fruit of the Spirit is not a grape, a banana, or a coconut! The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Our summer sermon series will be on these signs of the Holy Spirit at work in each of us. Come grow with us!

Food Collection Sunday

This Sunday, as well as the second Sunday of every month, is a food collection Sunday at PUMC where we collect nonperishable food items for the Coalition for Human Care.

Donations can be dropped off in the food collection bin in the narthex.

Cardiovascular Presentation

Join us on Sunday, July 12 at 12:15pm for a brief and informative Cardiovascular Health Education Presentation focused on heart health, blood pressure, healthy lifestyle habits, and ways to reduce the risk of heart disease. This presentation is designed especially for older adults or anyone interested in learning simple steps to protect their heart and improve overall wellness. Presented by Amanda Mitchell, RN.

School Supply Collection

Our annual school supply drive continues. Once again participants will be asked to take a large ziploc bag and fill it with the school supplies listed on the sheet inside the bag. There are 2 different grade levels: K- 5 and 6 – 12. Filled bags can then be dropped off at the church by August 2. The mission team has already purchased backpacks for the donated school supplies.

Young at Heart Lunch

Young at Heart invites all seniors and their guests for lunch and fellowship at Midland Bistro on Tuesday, July 14 at 11:30am.

To RSVP, contact Margaret Pluff.

VBS Register Today!

Mark your calendars, VBS is coming July 21-23 from 5:30-7:30pm! At Discovery on Adventure Island VBS, your students will enjoy an interactive, energizing, Bible-based good time on their quest for God’s great light. They will become Explorers and discover how God’s light shines on us and how we can reflect that light as we live each day.

On Thursday, July 23, families are invited to join in the fun! The children will sing, we will have a family service project, and celebrate with a picnic!

Looking Ahead

Taming Your Money Monster

Join us on Tuesday, August 18 from 6-8pm for an evening with Doug Lynam, a former monk, an investment advisor, best-selling author, keynote speaker, and coach. Doug will give a condensed understanding of the enneagram and how knowing our enneagram type can help us identify the childhood wounds driving financial behavior, understand how money behaviors function as survival mechanisms, transform the shadow side of our coping mechanisms with the better parts of our true selves and harness the strengths of our Enneagram type for good in the world. All are welcome to attend!

Brunch with the Bishop

All women of the church are invited to a special brunch with our Bishop, Connie Shelton! Join us at the church on Thursday, August 20 from 10am-12pm for a morning of fellowship, conversation, and connection as we gather around the table together. Whether you're new to the church or have been here for years, this is a wonderful opportunity to meet the bishop in a relaxed setting and share in the life of our church community. We hope you'll join us!

Promotion Sunday

On Sunday, August 9, we will be recognizing our children who are entering Kindergarten and 2nd grade during the worship services. We will be presenting them with a Bible and praying for them (and all students) to have an excellent school year!

If you have a student entering Kindergarten or 2nd grade, please contact Kelly McLeran so we can be sure to recognize them during Promotion Sunday!

Kids Sunday School also resumes August 9.

Greeter Training

New and seasoned greeter volunteers are invited, if you are able, for a Greeter Training session on Sunday, July 19 at 1pm. The training will be fun and informative, and will include some new practices that the PUMC staff would like to incorporate in our hospitality efforts. If you have questions about the training event, or about greeting at PUMC in general, please contact Pastor Jabe.

Women's Ice Cream Social

Meet new and old friends over a sweet treat! Join PUMC’s Women for ice cream on the patio on the last Sunday of the month all Summer long. The next get together is Sunday, July 26 from 6-7pm.

We will also be taking up a collection of items to support The Clara McLean House, a home away from home for patients and families receiving outpatient treatment or having surgery at Moore Regional. If you can, please bring one or more of the following:
