We often speak of God as Father- but what else is God? Who else is God? Join us for our Summer sermon series, Names of God! We will hear from passages in the Bible describing God as Father, the Almighty, Lord, I AM, and so many more. Each name has something to teach us about the many different attributes of God, and who we are called to be, being made in God's image and likeness.

Food Collection Sunday

This Sunday, as well as the second Sunday of every month, is a food collection Sunday at PUMC where we collect nonperishable food items for the Coalition for Human Care. The Coalition has specific needs each month. While they will accept any nonperishable food items, current needs include: peanut butter, jelly (in plastic jars) and boxed mac and cheese. Donations can be dropped off in the food collection bin in the narthex.

Meals on Wheels Delivery Volunteers Needed

As a church, we have adopted a Meals on Wheels delivery route in Southern Pines that delivers on Mondays starting this month. We would like to have enough volunteers so each person or team would only deliver once a month. To do this, we only need one or two more volunteers! Our route currently consists of 5 deliveries and can be completed in an hour or so. If you are interested in learning more or would like to sign up to be a monthly driver, please contact Brian Hayes or the church office.

Pizza & Movie: Alive Inside

The community is invited to join us on Friday, August 15 at 6pm to experience the power of music with this free showing of the award winning documentary, Alive Inside: A Story of Music and Memory, presented by Girl Scout, Kenna Johnson. We will also have free pizza and drinks. There will be a Q&A with a panel of memory care experts after the show. Sponsored by The Engaged Brains Project, The Foundation of FirstHealth and Pinehurst UMC.

Coffee Bar Set Up

If you enjoy having a cup of coffee before or after Sunday services, please consider volunteering to make and serve the coffee. There are current volunteers who will work with you to show you how set up and prep the coffee makers. Contact Kathy Ragsdale to learn more.

There is a sign up sheet posted on the cabinet in the kitchen for anyone who wants to sign up to serve.

End of Summer Pool Party

Mark your calendar and make plans to join us on Sunday, August 24 at 12:30pm for lunch and a pool party to celebrate the end of summer at Pine Grove Village pool. Contact Kelly McLeran for more details.

Youth Family Kick Off

All students, 6th-12th grade and their families are invited to a Groovy 70s themed Youth Family Kick Off event on Sunday, September 7 at 5pm. We will share a meal, enjoy a 70s themed game and make some tie-dyes!

30th Anniversary Dinner

Did you know that PUMC is celebrating it's 30th year of existence this year? Time flies when you are doing the Spirit's work!

​Please save the date: October 19 at 5pm. We will join one another for a meal and a joyous time of reflecting and rejoicing!

Fairway District UMM 2025 Scholarships Awarded

The Fairway District UMM 2025 scholarships have been awarded. The total amount awarded this year was $2200.

The 2025 Scholarship Fund was created through the generous donations of local UMM groups and from the proceeds of our FDUMM Golf Tournament. The following UMM groups made a donation to the fund or entered a team in the golf tournament: Apex, Ebenezer, Jonesboro, Paige Memorial, Pinehurst, St. Francis, St. Luke and Sunrise.

The 2025 Scholarships were awarded to: Eric Fruge (Pinehurst), Blake Hillyard (Pinehurst), Christopher Siharath (St. Francis) and Colin Weber (Pinehurst).

Since 2014, the Fairway District UMM has awarded over $36,000 in scholarships with awards going to over 60 young men from churches throughout the Fairway District. We look forward to continuing this program in 2026.
