The Big Game

Make sure to stop by our Big Game Board in the Narthex and submit your winning team and final score predictions for the upcoming big game (law forbids us from calling it by its proper name...). Simply right down a score for KC and a score for SF along with your name on the pieces of paper provided near the board. Anyone who guesses the exact score and correct winner wins a pastor picked prize! Deadline for submissions is Feb. 11 at noon. Only one submission per person.

Young at Heart Lunch

Young at Heart invites all seniors and their guests for lunch and fellowship at Longhorn Steakhouse on Tuesday, February 13 at 11:30am.

To RSVP, contact Margaret Pluff.

Ash Wednesday Services

On Ash Wednesday, February 14, there will be 2 services at PUMC: 8:30am and 5:30pm. We pray you will make it to one of these services as we bow our heads and receive a marking of ashes on our brow. Each year this reminds us that we are dust, helpless before God. Come to one of these simple worship services and humble yourself before God.

Looking Ahead

KAIROS Prison Ministry

PUMC has been involved with the prison ministry at Scotland near Laurinburg for many years. Our team, involving five members of our church, will enter the prison on March 7th to share the Good News of Jesus with a group of men selected by the chaplain. The program, based on Walk to Emmaus, will transform the lives of these men through a series of talks, music, and sharing. At the concluding service on March10th, each man will share the impact this experience has had on him, which is always inspiring.

On Sunday, February 18, there will be an opportunity for each member of our church to participate in this ministry in the Narthex through signing on a prayer chain, agreeing to provide desserts, and helping to finance individual meals during the weekend.

Interpretive Worship Choir

Interpretive Worship Choir (IWC) will be having its first meeting of the year Sunday, February 18 from 7-8pm following Youth Group in the church sanctuary. All youth 6th grade and up are welcome! Bring your friends! We will plan on meeting for 1 hour this first rehearsal. We will be discussing schedules, so bring your calendar. Also, please also bring a favorite poem, bible verse, song, or hymn that you might be interested in working up.

Reach out if you have any questions: Sheri at (910)691-7647 or Greer at (910)783-6405 or [email protected]. Hope to see you there!

Grief Support Group

If you have experienced the death of a loved one, you are invited to join us for a six week grief support group. The program will be focused on understanding and coping with grief. We will discuss the five stages of grief and how to begin your “grief-work”. Sessions begin on Tuesday, February 20. Two times will be offered, Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6:30pm and Wednesdays from 10am to 12pm. Learn more.

To register, contact Mary Lou Bernett.

Lenten Dinners

Make your Lenten journey more meaningful this year by coming to the table with us Thursdays during Lent beginning February 22 at 6pm as we collectively journey to the cross. Come hungry to hear the word of God anew. There will be opportunities to RSVP online or during Sunday worship each week.

Service & Fellowship at Penick

PUMC folks & friends of Penick Village are invited to participate in a community service project at Penick on February 27 at 10am or 1pm where we will be cutting and/or tying mesh bags for Society of St. Andrew to use to collect produce as they glean fields to feed the hungry.
