September 10, 2021
As Methodists, we are called to cultivate more disciples and deeper disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of our community and world. You are invited to join us on the journey.
This week
Current Sermon Series
Join us Sunday as we continue our sermon series “Unafraid: Places Jesus Walked.” This week we hear of Jesus willingly walking among the tombs in a place called Gerasene. It is also our inaugural First Responder Appreciation Sunday. Come and hear how many of our neighbors, like Jesus, are unafraid to enter into dead places.
Note: The link to livestream the service on Sundays at 8:15 is located at the bottom of the e-news.
First Responder Appreciation
Join us for worship this Sunday as we honor and show our appreciation for first responders on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. We will have a FREE LUNCH to celebrate our local heroes at 12:30pm in the backyard. Everyone is invited!

Help us show hospitality to the guests we are honoring by adjusting your worship schedule time from 11 to 8:15 or 9:40 as many of our guests will attend at 11 immediately before the cookout. Also, if you have a 10X10 canopy we can borrow to offer some shade for outdoor seating at the cookout contact Thomas McDow.
Chocolate Festival Meeting
All women are invited to attend the next Chocolate Festival planning meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 1 pm at the church to see how you can be a part of Chocolate Festival 2022, make new friends, and have fun doing it!
Confirmation Class
Any 6th grader and above who has not been confirmed is invited to join this year's Confirmation class beginning with a retreat at the church on September 18 from 10am-3pm.

Collecting Pop Tabs
We are once again collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House! Every tab you donate helps provide a temporary home away from home for the families of sick or injured children. Save your pop tabs and drop them off at the church. There is a container in the kitchen for your donations.

UMCOR Disaster Response
UMCOR responds to natural or civil disasters of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on its own. Through UMCOR, United Methodists extend loving care to people within the United States. When disaster strikes, it is local churches that provide the first response to their communities. 100% of your donation reaches the supported mission project.

Help a neighbor in need by donating online or by check made payable to PUMC with UMCOR in the memo line.
Aid for Afghan Refugees
Afghan refugees will be arriving in the Triangle area soon. We encourage you to support our ministry partners who are busy preparing to welcome them. Church World Service and World Relief have offices in Durham and are already working to resettle our new neighbors. Learn more...

Right now, the biggest need is financial support. Church World Service will be providing housing, food, clothing, legal services and more and with very little time to plan.  You can give through our church by making checks payable to PUMC with Advance #982540 in the memo line.
