Connecting Our Community With The Information and People They Need: Introducing Let’s Talk
Now more than ever, it is vital that we work together and remain connected. That’s why we’re introducing a new community engagement and customer service tool, Let’s Talk.

Let’s Talk makes it easier for our families, students, staff and broader community to connect with the information they need and reach out to a PUSD team member and ensures you receive a timely, accurate response. We know there is an abundance of information out there, and we’re committed to connecting you with relevant information or a member of our PUSD team to respond to your questions, comments or concerns.

On April 12, look for Let’s Talk on our PUSD website and across our social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).

Journalism Internship Opportunity
Embarcadero Publishing is seeking local high school or college students with an appetite for news and an interest in learning about print and digital media for internship opportunities this summer.

The interns research news topics, conduct interviews and write stories for the Pleasanton Weekly and DanvilleSanRamon.com. They will also be introduced to the other aspects of publishing, including advertising and production.

During the internship period, the intern will be an integral part of the team, participating fully in the process of gathering and presenting news. They anticipate the 2021 internships, like 2020, will be primarily remote-based because of pandemic conditions, but that could change down the line.

Candidates must be responsible, have good writing skills, be available 10 to 12 hours a week and have reliable internet access. Internships require an academic sponsor. Applicants should send a resume, a cover letter explaining your interest and links to at least three examples of journalistic work to editor Jeremy Walsh at [email protected] by noon April 19.
Parenting Tips from your School Social Worker Team
Preventing Prescription Drug Abuse
Prescription drugs are now some of the most commonly abused drugs in our area. Illegal use of prescription drugs can include taking a higher dose than you are prescribed or taking a drug that was prescribed to someone else. Parents or caregivers can prevent prescription drug abuse by carefully monitoring their medication use and keeping any medications in the house that are not prescribed to their child locked in a safe place. To learn more, check out the Online Drug & Alcohol Series: What’s the High About developed by your School Social Workers.

Foothill DECA Students Qualify For International Competition
Foothill DECA recently attended the State Career Development Conference, bringing home more than 80 awards! Ten students are advancing to the virtual International Career Development Conference in April after placing in the top five for their roleplay or written events.

The virtual conference had three components: industry-validated cluster exams, roleplay presentations, and long term written business plans. In the first week, students took their tests and uploaded their presentations for each event. Following a ten day judging period and fun conference activities, Foothill DECA members were recognized out of over 900 students across California. The chapter was also awarded for a variety of outreach, community service, and leadership development events.

“I really enjoyed participating in this year’s CDC,” Sophomore Kate Clifford said. “We had so much fun competing together and it was a great
experience!”

Great job, Foothill DECA!
Every member of team PUSD has an impact on our students: Even those who go on to become Vice Principals

When Fairlands Vice Principal Kate Townsend was a student at Donlon Elementary (top photo), PUSD Maintenance Employee Steve Grace was the school custodian. The pair connected during Kate's time at Donlon, and she wrote Steve a special poem before she left the school as a 5th grader. On Steve's last day at Donlon, the poem was engraved on a flower planter for students at the school to sign.

Kate recently found a picture of herself with the planter and showed it to Steve. Steve still has the engraved planter in his backyard!
