Parenting Tips from your School Social Worker Team
Supporting a Student With Anxiety Achieve Consistent Attendance and Engagement
Did You Know? Students often avoid attending live remote instruction due to complaints of a stomach ache or headache. Parents or caregivers can support their students in having consistent attendance by keeping in mind that these physical complaints can often be a sign of anxiety. If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents or caregivers for advice on how to make your child feel comfortable and excited about learning, rather than allowing them to stay home and avoid the issue. Parents or caregivers are also encouraged to view the online parent or caregiver education series How to Support Your Student Struggling with Anxiety created by your PUSD Social Workers.
