Facilities Update at South Elementary:
We are currently considering options to address these needs, and there have been opportunities over the past several weeks for the community to provide feedback on those options, which include building a new school, renovating/upgrading the existing building, or closing South and redistricting students in a variety of different ways. We held two district-wide meetings in October and a smaller meeting for the South community was held last evening. You may review the presentation from that meeting by clicking here.
We also invited community members to volunteer for a Facilities Steering Committee through a survey recently. There was an overwhelming response from people interested in serving on this committee. We could see no fair way to narrow down the pool of approximately 300 applicants to a much smaller group, so I am inviting anyone who is interested to attend the first two scheduled Community Facilities Committee meetings. These meetings will be work sessions where we will convene and collaborate for the purpose of addressing the issues and preparing recommendations.
The first two meetings will be held on Wednesday, November 28, and Thursday, December 11. Both meetings will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the cafeteria at Perkiomen Valley High School. Any district resident may attend - you do not need to have filled out the previous survey to participate.

Small Business Saturday

Consumers and small businesses in communities across the U.S. are preparing to celebrate Small Business Saturday, taking place this year on November 24. Because an average two-thirds of every dollar ($0.67) spent at small businesses in the U.S. stays in the local community, consumers' local impact during the important holiday shopping season could be significant. Further, every dollar spent at small businesses creates an additional 50 cents in local business activity as a result of employee spending and businesses purchasing local goods and services, according to the Small Business Economic Impact Study from American Express (NYSE: AXP).  Learn More.

Wellness Coach, Hettie Stroebel invites you to attend "Enhance Your Wellness in 2019" workshop on December 1, 2018 at Hotel Fisole.

2019 is just around the corner! How can you enhance your wellness in the year to come? In our day to day busy and digitally overloaded lives, we often forget the most important player: ourselves. We do not experience enrichment of life through our careers. Living and playing have no place on our schedules. We may have good financial resources, but our application of them is poor. We all know the benefits of regular physical activity, healthy eating habits, strength and vitality as well as self-care and when to seek medical attention, but we spend our days sitting 8-10 hours, eat food with none if any nutrition and have chronic diseases. We often loose our self-esteem, self-control, and determination as a sense of direction. More than often creative and stimulating mental activities are lacking severely. We neglect to contribute directly to our environment and community. Our living spaces are often cluttered and disorganized. Many of us barely a have strong group of mutual interdependent friends. Do you identify with any of these challenges above or know someone who does?
