Dear Sea King Families,

This Wednesday, March 9th, is an important event for our PVPUSD community with the Peninsula Education Foundation fundraiser, 1-Day 100K. The PEF helps fund several aspects that support our students here at PVHS and across the district. Our amazing College and Career Center and Counseling Department are both supported by the PEF and allow us to provide excellent programs and services for our students. The PVHS PVIT program also receives support from the PEF, and as you will read below in our Student Spotlight section, our PVIT teams continue to experience great success in all their competitive events. I encourage all of our PVHS families to support the Peninsula Education Foundation this Wednesday for the 1-Day 100K fundraiser and help PVHS reach our goal of $15,215. Any amount of donation will help us reach our goal and is greatly appreciated by our entire Sea King community. Click HERE to donate and pledge your support!

As always, thank you for your ongoing support of our Sea King community. It is an honor to serve as the principal to our PVHS students, faculty, staff, and families. Enjoy a restful and relaxing Sunday!

Sincerely,

Dr. Trista Ramirez
PVHS Principal

Student Spotlight
Faculty battle students this past week in the annual staff vs. students Comedy Sportz match. It was a great evening full of laughs and fun. Thank you to everyone who participated and congrats to the staff team for winning!
This past week, the Varsity Boys Tennis team traveled to Corona del Mar to face the “other” Sea Kings. We played hard, but unfortunately came out on the shorter end of the Trident stick and lost. The following day, we challenged Pacific Palisades on our home courts. Ben Jorgensen battled out a singles tie-breaker to get us to a 9-9 tie. The Dynamic Doubles play of Tristan Messerli/Nathan Blakey and Scott Shimoyama/Steel Weiss swept their matches and PV was victorious with a 73-71 WIN in games!!
Congratulations to the PVIT VEX TEAM who qualified for the VEX World Championships the weekend. This team of Connor Peters, Ransom Liu, and Kylie Welcher had a great tournament at the California State Championships- Los Angeles, resulting in the World qualification. The team will have a lot more practicing ahead as they prepare to meet the best in the world in Texas in May. Congratulations

The PVIT FRC team competed in their first regional event in Port Hueneme this weekend.
At the time of this posting, they were only halfway through their two days of competing after a day of practice. It was the first event for many on this team and they had a great time experiencing the huge competition.
This week, our PVHS Boys' JV Tennis team displayed true Sea King spirit. Near the end of the match, the players from both the PVHS and Corona Del Mar JV teams went to an empty court, and our boys taught the CDM boys how to play a game called "Canoe", which involves all players doing their best to "stay alive" in the game. So, PVHS kids and CDM kids played together on both sides and had a blast! This was a true demonstration of what can happen when our kids are having fun together no matter your team or the final score. Great job Sea King JV Tennis!
