Academic Spotlight

Last week, Ms. Wei's Chinese 4 and AP students had a chance to learn and practice Tai Ji Quan in class. Students had a blast. Tai Ji Quan (also known as Tai Chi or Shadowboxing) is a traditional Chinese martial art practiced for self-defense, mindful nurturing of well-being and fitness enhancement. For hundreds of years the practitioners worldwide enjoyed many benefits that Tai Ji Quan is believed to offer.
Activities Spotlight

ASB and Band students teamed up this week to spread some holiday cheer around campus. Students stopped by classes, the library, and even the main office to carol and pass out candy canes.
Art Spotlight

The PVHS National Art Honors Society created a pop up art show this week. They are highlighting a selection of monochromatic art works, holiday ceramic gifts, and sticklers for purchase along with some salty snacks. Additionally, they have a selection of past student works set up as a part of our "permanent collection". Stop by room 202 during nutrition, lunch and after school till 3:30, Monday, and Tuesday!
CSF Toy Drive

CSF held its annual Toy Drive the last two weeks with overwhelming success. This year, PVHS CSF members and friends donated to support the Toys for Tots program. Thank you to all those who supported the drive. CSF wishes all families a happy holiday season!

South Bay Families Connected: Focus on youth wellness

Finally, after a full year of distance learning, some students have, understandably, experienced the return to in-person learning as a social challenge. PVPUSD partner South Bay Families Connected (SBFC), a network of 115 schools in the South Bay, has organized Teaching Social Skills: Resources for Parents and Guardians, which contains a video featuring students at local schools, including PVPUSDā€™s own Rhys Moon, sharing their perspectives regarding the social ups and downs of returning to in-person learning. There you will also find some useful tips to support your children and teens as they develop and refine their own social skills. For related resources, please visit the SBFC Healthy Relationships Page. The SBFC Virtual Teen Center contains a wide variety of mental health and wellness topics.
