Dear Sea King Families,

I hope you and your family are taking the opportunity to rest, relax and enjoy the holiday weekend! As a reminder from my previous email, COVID-19 Antigen rapid test kits were distributed to all PVHS students in their 5th-period class on Friday. We are asking all students to take a COVID test on Monday, February 21st to verify a negative COVID test before returning to school on Tuesday, February 22nd.

Only POSITIVE test results need to be reported.
You do NOT need to notify us of negative test results

If your student tests positive, please log the test result into Primary Health, as well as complete the PVHS COVID Positive Reporting Form (linked below). Upon completion of the PVHS COVID reporting form, a PVHS administrator will be in touch with you regarding the next steps for your student.

If your student was absent on Friday, February 18th, a COVID test kit can be picked up at the PVHS Main Office upon the student's return to school on Tuesday.

This week, PVHS will host Open House for our potential incoming 9th-grade families. This is an opportunity for our PVHS community to brag, share, and show off all of our signature programs, academics, extracurriculars, and athletics.  The event will take place on Thursday, February 24th from 6-8 pm in Sea King Park. Please share this opportunity with any incoming 9th-grade families.  The final commitment date to PVHS for incoming 9th-grade students is March 3rd. We are looking forward to welcoming our incoming 9th-grade students to our Sea King family!

As always, thank you for your ongoing support of our Sea King community. It is an honor to serve as the principal to our PVHS students, faculty, staff, and families. Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend and stay safe Sea Kings!

Sincerely,

Dr. Trista Ramirez
PVHS Principal

Student Spotlight
The PVIT Underwater ROV team toured the Blue Robotics facility to see the engineering and manufacturing process for Blue Robotics' products. It was exciting to hear how these professional ROV's and parts are used in the real world. Their "brain", the electronics module, was surprisingly similar to the ROV brain that the PVIT team is building for the MATE competition. The team will be competing in Long Beach in May to try to win the Regional competition to become a siz-time qualifier for the World Championships. In 2021, the ROV teamed finished 4th Place at Wrolds after coming off of a year of online meetings.

Thank you to Blue Robotics for an interesting tour and for sponsoring the ROV team with donated parts.
On Friday BTC hosted their annual Remember the Tritons Walk. This year our students were raising money and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of all of our Sea Kings who have battled cancer. The supporters of Palos Verdes High School and Be The Change donated $28,557.00 to LLS and we are so proud of this accomplishment. Thank you to all of our supporters for making this possible and congratulations to BTC on a successful event!
Congratulations to junior Johannes Eberhart who made the SCSBOA All-Southern Orchestra. This is a tremendous honor and we are so proud of all of your hard work!
