Dear Sea King Families,

We are kicking off an exciting week here at PVHS -- the return of Scholar Quiz! This is an all-school academic competition with teams going head to head in fast-paced question and answer rounds in a variety of subject areas. We start off on Monday with 52 teams competing in the first round, all leading up to the finals on Tuesday, March 22nd when the top two teams will face off in the final match-up! This is a chance for our kids to show off their intellectual prowess while creating a schoolwide focus on academics. This year's theme is Aim for the Green, which ties into our goal of increasing focus and performance on our upcoming standardized testing this spring. As our 11th and 12th grade students complete our first set of testing with the California Science Test (CAST) this week, please encourage your students to perform their best on the exams and take these testing sessions as a serious opportunity to display their learning and academic achievement.

With another campus update, beginning on Monday, March 14th, indoor masking for all students and staff in TK-12 schools will shift from required to strongly recommneded, irrespective of vaccine status. As such, indoor masking on all PVPUSD campuses is now optional for everyone on campus. Also with our COVID positive case rates continuing to decline and the recent change in masking protocols, we will also be opening the campus back up to visitors during the school day as of March 14th. As always, if you do need to come to campus for any reason, it is important that you first check in with the main office and get an on-campus pass.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support of our Sea King community. It is an honor to serve as the principal to our PVHS students, faculty, staff, and families. Enjoy a restful and relaxing Sunday!

Sincerely,

Dr. Trista Ramirez
PVHS Principal
