Student Spotlight Sarah Park, a 10th-grade bassoon player in the PVHS Orchestra, has made the 2021 All-State Wind Symphony. There are 3 All-State Bands and the Wind Symphony is the top band. It's an enormous achievement for a 10th grader. The Festival is being held virtually this year, but it's still something nice to look forward to and the entire PVHS Music Department is super proud of her.

Regeneron released its list of the nation's top 300 scholars from their Science Talent Search (STS) who were selected for their exceptional research skills, commitment to academics, innovative thinking, and promise as scientists. John (Beom Joon) Kim, PVHS Senior, was selected for his project titled "Flexible, Water-Resistant, and Biocompatible Medifoam and URGO-Based Resistive Random-Access Memory for Skin-Wearable Healthcare Devices".  The Regeneron Science Talent Search provides students a national stage to present original research and celebrates the hard work and novel discoveries of young scientists who are bringing a fresh perspective to global challenges. Congratulations John!

Congratulations to Ripley Uyeda who signed over break to play tennis at Endicott College in Massachusetts next year. Great job Ripley on this huge accomplishment!

Activities Updates Seniors! Make sure to check the Class of 2021 webpage for information about ordering graduation regalia and more!

Counseling Office Updates Senior Students: Congrats on making it through your first semester of senior year! Some of your colleges may now require that you send them a midyear transcript, but not all colleges require it. We recommend checking your common app list or your college student portal to see if a midyear report is required.  To order midyear transcripts please go to your counselor's senior google classroom to access and submit the midyear transcript form. Your counselor will be submitting midyear transcripts the week of January 18th, as soon as transcripts are finalized. If you have questions or need help please contact your counselor directly.  Sophomore Students: The counselors will be hosting a virtual webinar for all sophomore students on Wednesday, January 13th at 1:30pm. This lesson will cover important topics such as how to protect your mental health during virtual learning, how to stay motivated, setting long-term goals, postsecondary options, college admission testing updates, scheduling information for junior year, and more.   To register for this webinar please sign up here:  Please note this webinar is for students only.   Sophomore Parents Save the date for January 20th at 5:30pm. Virtual meeting registration details coming soon. Attention Freshmen Students: Due to the overwhelming response the PVHS counselors have scheduled a second lunchtime meet and greet with the PVHS counselors on Wednesday, January 13th at 12:30 pm. This is a group meeting for freshmen students only. At this meeting we will review graduation requirements, college eligibility requirements, and other important information with you. It will cover the same information as the January 6th meeting so please do not sign up to attend if you already attended the first meeting as space is limited.
