Thirty-nine years ago this month, Barni Strausbaugh started Pauma/Valley Insurance Agency, Inc. (PVI) Barni was partners in the development of the Old Town Shopping Center, where he founded PVI in 1978. It moved to its current location in 1998.
Through dedication to his customers, commitment to his community and much hard work from him and his entire team, PVI has earned the distinction of being Valley Center's Most Trusted Independent Insurance Agency since 1978.
And speaking of the PVI team, there are two other important members who are celebrating anniversaries this month as well. Brandon Strausbaugh, PVI Manager, is celebrating ten years with PVI, and Carmen Barrera is celebrating six years!
Congratulations to Barni, Brandon and Carmen! And special thanks to all our customers for being the reason we are here and making it all possible!

ecause PVI is so conveniently located (figuratively and literally) in the heart of Valley Center, it has become a popular drop-off place for local charity events. Above, Brandon Strausbaugh, PVI Manager, is shown with Mili and her mom, Marisa Salazar, and sister along with toys donated by members of the community to help fulfill Mili's birthday wish.

To support another great community event, Valley Center Happenings "Keeping it Local" Ambassador for 2017, PVI gladly accepted donations for the gift basket items to be presented to the winner. One of the many donations received at PVI was a gift certificate from Julie Simmons, with Mother of All Birth Services.
Accepting donations for worthy charitable events has proven to be a great way to meet members of our community! We are fortunate to live in an area where the community is so supportive of each other!

REPORTING DAMAGE FROM THE RECENT STORMS

According to Valley Center Fire Chief, Joe Napier, residents in San Diego County with significant damages to their homes or businesses due to the recent storms are requested to report damages to the County Office of Emergency Services. You can use this link to access the form: Reporting Serious Damage.
Completion of this form will assist the County in collecting damage information and associated costs from the series of winter storms that have moved through our area. Compiling total costs throughout the county will assist local governments in determining whether we might qualify for state or federal disaster recovery assistance.

There are many in our community who go about their business helping others without drawing a lot of attention to themselves. They don't do it for power or glory or to personally benefit (although it's all but impossible to do for others without reaping something in return, at the very least, a good feeling).
So it's my pleasure to highlight one of these groups of people. I don't do it to pat these people on the back (although that would not be out of order), but I do it to encourage others and to tell you how you can help as well.

A NEW YEAR'S MESSAGE FROM THE VCFPD

The Valley Center Fire Protection District, in partnership with the Burn Institute and the American Red Cross, offers anyone "free" 10-year smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide detectors with home installation. All of the Valley Center Fire Prevention District fire engines and fire prevention units carry small kits with everything needed to test and install smoke detectors. We can test and install a new smoke detector in just 5 minutes.

Take a minute today to check your home smoke detectors. Don't just push the button on the smoke alarm, as this only tests the power and alarm circuit. It is the sensors that must be tested. The VCFPD uses canned smoke to check the timed sensitivity of each detector.

PVI STEALS THE SHOW AT VC CHAMBER DINNER
|
PVI was well represented at the Valley Center Chamber of Commerce Installation of Officers and Awards Dinner on Saturday, January 28th. The theme was celebrating the Chinese New Year - The Year of the Rooster. In keeping with the theme, the decorations and the entertainment were designed to insure good luck.
Of course, with the PVI Protection Team, you're always insured, but you don't need luck! Just like they went "all out" to support the Chamber event, even including being dressed in beautiful cheongsams (qipaos), they always go "all out" when it comes to serving our customers! Now that's something to "crow" about!
Also of special note, Brandon Strausbaugh, PVI Manager, was reinstalled as a Director on the Chamber Board. Congratulations, Brandon!

In case you haven't heard, Valley Center Family Practice - Drs. David Greb and Roy Johnson - joined Arch Health Partners.
Although the official change took place the first of the year, their Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held on January 17
th
. If you happened to be passing by the doctors' office on Valley Center Road at that time, you would have noticed big "goings on" as the area was filled with family and friends wishing Drs. Greb and Johnson much success on this new journey. Also in attendance were representatives from Arch Health Partners, Valley Center Chamber of Commerce, and Palomar Health.
