Volunteer with PVNA:

Board Updates

As in all volunteer-run organizations, individuals need to balance life events, family, professional life, and personal time.  We are sad to announce two Board resignations: Steve Poe, Communication Chair and Rachel D’Acquisto, Treasurer, as they are stepping away to focus on family and business. Their knowledge, experience, and presence will be greatly missed.  Recruitment for these positions will start immediately so we can fill these two vacancies as soon as possible.

We are also looking for the following new Board positions:

  • Safety Chair
  • Streets, Parks, and Beautification Chair
  • Events & Programs Chair and Co-Chair
  • Co-Representatives for each Quadrant
  • At Large Chair

If you are interested in applying, submit an application at www.paloverdeneighborhood.org/join-the-pvna-board. We will be taking applications for the first round through February 3 and then begin the interview process. If we do not have applicants for particular positions, we will continue the process until filled.

Curious about Board service? Come meet current PVNA Board members at our New Year's Party in the Park on January 27, or plan to join us at the February Board Meeting (see below).

We would like to have the board vote on the first new board members applicants at our February Board Meeting on Thursday, February 15.

If you have questions about a particular position or want to know more about what is involved, please call our VP Nancy Stromp at 520-912-0509 for additional information.

Call for Artists & Gardeners

Art in the Gardens, now in its second year, is a fundraising event benefiting PVNA where Palo Verde residents can show off their interesting, beautiful, unique or quirky gardens and artworks.

The event is a walking tour of participating gardens, and at each garden you’ll find a few artists with their work on display and available for sale.

Show Off Your Unique & Interesting Gardens! Each garden host will welcome several artists to set up their displays in the garden, and open their space to event attendees.

Reply to this email or contact info@paloverdeneighborhood.org if you have questions about signing up!

Trees for You from Tucson Electric (TEP)

TEP’s Trees for You program offers customers a wide selection of shade trees at a discounted price. Trees are available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. The trees are 5 gallon containers for $5 each, limit for 2 trees for 2024. This program encourages homeowners and community groups to plant shade trees to help save energy and beautify their neighborhoods.

Shade trees create a beautiful canopy, enhancing the local landscape. They provide a natural habitat for wildlife, reduce erosion and water runoff, and purify the air by absorbing carbon dioxide. Depending on availability, customers may choose from a variety of seasonal, year-round and deciduous trees such as Arizona ash, desert willows, oaks, elms, mesquite, pomegranate and vitex.

For more information, and to order trees, go to https://www.tep.com/trees-for-you/

Public Transit Meetings:

Sun Tran COA Feedback Meetings

The City of Tucson and Sun Tran, in partnership with the Pima Association of Governments (PAG), evaluated all aspects of Sun Tran, Sun Link, Sun Express, and Sun Shuttle services throughout Tucson, and the greater Tucson area to determine potential improvements through the Comprehensive Operational Analysis.

Following nearly 11 months of public outreach to gather input on proposed changes to improve transit efficiency, equity and effectiveness, Sun Tran staff will host six (6) public meetings to discuss the Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA) proposed transit changes. The meetings will begin Monday, January 22 through Monday, January 29.

Sun Tran Route 5 (Pima/West Speedway) has been recommended to be continued by the Comprehensive Operational Analysis done last fall. As a result of your input, the decision to terminate this bus route was reversed and the City even decided to improve the hours of operation! The final decision will be made by the Mayor and City Council after the series of public meetings is completed in January. Please try to attend one of the meetings to advocate for Route 5!

For additional meeting details and/or to see a video about the recommended changes, select the button below.
