PVNA Elections and Annual Meeting

Per current PVNA bylaws, the roles that make up the Executive Committee (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Communications) are up for election as their two-year terms expire. The next elections for these roles takes place at the PVNA Annual Meeting on October 17.

Nominations for these roles will open on August 1 and close on September 17. Any resident, property owner, or business owner/proprietor in the Palo Verde Neighborhood is eligible to run for or seek appointment to a Board role.

Please see additional details about the nomination and elections process at https://www.paloverdeneighborhood.org/pvna-elections. We hope you will consider becoming a Board officer and voting for your preferred members of the PVNA Board Executive Committee!

Take the PVNA 2024 Survey - tell us what's important to you!

The PVNA Board wants to hear what your priorities are for our neighborhood! Please log in to the annual survey with the button below to let us know what you want the neighborhood to focus on in the upcoming year.

We have divided the Survey into several sections - a Quick Version with a few general questions is available in Section 1. If you have a few minutes, please fill out the additional sections for sharing information about PVNA events, streets/parks/beautification, and safety.

Support local business - recent incident at Circle K

On Saturday, July 20, an unknown perpetrator destroyed property at the Circle K on Speedway east of Country Club. We do not have many details, but encourage you to stay alert and cautious while out in public, and to support our local partner Circle K. They have been very supportive of recent PVNA events and are a valued member of our neighborhood.

Did you know...? Goats heads are back!!

All around our neighborhood quietly lurks the dastardly goat's head! Also known as puncture vine or Tribulus terristis, goat's heads quietly hug the ground and produce horrendous stickers that can pierce the soles of your shoes (or your dog's foot!) like a knife through butter. A single plant can cover a square foot of territory (or more!) and churn out hundreds of stickers.

The best way to foil their dastardly plan is by pulling each plant out by the roots and throwing it in the trash. Look for feathery leaves, small yellow flowers and of course, small poky stickers. For more information and better photos, see Goathead Warriors.

It's always a good time to pull goat's heads but right now they are starting to set seed. Please pull on your gardening gloves, yank goat's heads when you see them and throw them in the nearest trash can. Your neighbors and your toes will thank you!

Brush & Bulky is almost here!

Our neighborhood's next Brush & Bulky collection is the week of August 12, beginning on Monday morning. This is your opportunity to clean out your yard, garage or storage shed and get rid of unwanted debris.

Place your items where your trash or your neighborhood's trash is collected. Items must be at least 3 feet from all obstacles, including trash, recycling containers and utility meters. Set materials out by 6 a.m. on Monday, August 12. Collection will be completed by the end of the week.

Do not put materials out more than two weeks ahead of your scheduled collection. Keep materials out of the street.

The Brush & Bulky maximum is 10 cubic yards per household (1 cubic yard = ~ the size of a washing machine).

Brush & Bulky will collect:

  • Appliances (Remove freezer/refrigerator doors)
  • Auto tires (Limit 5 - Placed in separate pile)
  • Brush (Up to 5' Long/ 24"diameter)

This Town Hall will only be held virtually!

If you are having a hard time finding orange bags for plastics recycling, they have been spotted at several Fry's stores in the last week, so try finding or ordering them there!

Please see the infographic above for changes that are taking place in the Hard to Recycle Plastics Program. Starting July 1, all hard to recycle plastics must be placed in orange Hefty ReNew plastic bags. A free starter kit including one orange recycling bag and information about plastics recycling is available from Ward 6 during their business hours, M-F, 9A-1P. Plastics and glass recycling containers will continue to be available at the Ward 6 Office as noted above.
