Last Call for Feedback on Bylaws Amendments

At our upcoming Annual Neighborhood Meeting on Thursday, October 19 at Watershed Management Group, an important agenda item is to approve our new PVNA Bylaws. These are the rules which will govern the association until they are amended in the future.  It is important to us, the PVNA Board, that these make sense to everyone in the Palo Verde Neighborhood and that you understand the updated bylaws.

Bylaws review process

Bylaws contain the long-standing rules for the association and do not change much on a regular basis, or year to year. We have written them with the intention of clarity, fairness, and flexibility.

We have also written a “Policies and Procedures Manual” to complement the Bylaws. This new document is still a work in progress, and will be an ever-evolving document. The Board can update these with Board approval.

The manual offers more flexibility for Board operations, and will serve as our "How To" manual for cross-training and Board transitions. We always welcome your feedback on our general policies & procedures.

Timeline

We have extended the review & feedback period until Sunday, October 8.  Feedback will be reviewed and applied on Monday, October 9.

The final version of the new PVNA Bylaws that will be voted on will be distributed on Wednesday, October 11 by email.

Per the current bylaws, the amended Bylaws must be approved by a majority vote at the Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 19. You must attend the Annual Meeting to vote to approve the Bylaws.

How to provide feedback

Please view/download the bylaws below, or pick up / request a printed copy. Use the email link below to request a printed copy.

You can comment on the online version of the PDF, or send your feedback directly to info@paloverdeneighborhood.org.

Print copies are available at select locations throughout the neighborhood, such as the Pocket Park Notice Board (see photo below) at 3330 E Fairmount St. and at 3545 East Hampton Street.

Copies are in the tube attached to the Pocket Park Notice Board.

Groundbreaking for new TMM Senior Housing

On Wednesday, October 4th, City of Tucson representatives were in Palo Verde Neighborhood for the groundbreaking at TMM's New Senior Housing on Camilla Blvd between Adam St. and Lee St. This area will provide 17 new affordable studio apartments and an up-to-date senior activity center.

Tucson Mayor Regina Romero spoke of Tucson’s affordable housing programs, especially for our seniors, citing an increase in the senior homeless population. Christie Lee, TMM President/CEO, took charge of the TMM property about one year ago. Lee spoke about evicting eight drug dealers from the premises and working with Palo Verde residents on other security issues such as reported trespassing by the homeless and offering to assist with boarding up windows. Next steps for the project will be demolishing the existing structures over the next month, raising needed funds for construction of the new area, and starting construction once permits are in place. Ms. Lee will be attending the November PVNA Board meeting to discuss TMM’s current status and plans. She looks forward to partnering with PVNA in the future.

Build A Basin Workshop with Watershed Management

Saturday, 10/14 from 9-11 a.m.

3676 East Fairmount Street

Join us for the next neighborhood leaders training where you will learn how to create a rain basin, plant native vegetation and steward it to establishment so that it can thrive on rainfall only. At the end of the training you will receive a free BYOB kit (one native shade tree, one native shrub, native grasses, a packet of wildflower seeds and a bag of woodchip mulch.) Become a neighborhood leader today!

Share the work of building rainwater harvesting, food producing and shade creating rain gardens with your neighbors and teach others too!

Come build a basin with us on Saturday, 10/14/2023 from 9-11 a.m. You will learn how to create a rain basin, plant native vegetation and steward it to establishment so that it can thrive on rainfall only.

As a participant of this program our expectation is that you will then host a workshop for your neighbors to continue the expansion of this knowledge and help distribute more BYOB kits.

Please remember to wear comfortable outdoor work clothes, sun protection and to bring a refillable water container. Some light snacks will be provided. After we build the basin we will give out BYOB native plant kits for you to take home and use in your own yard (1 tree, 1 shrub, grasses, 1 packet of wildflower seeds and a bag of mulch).

After attending this workshop we ask that you help us host another neighborhood leader workshop at your own home so that we can continue to build the "train-the trainer" model. Dates will be scheduled according to your availability and WMG's availability.
