Did you know Tucson has a food insecurity issue? According to University of Arizona research, Tucson ranks second only behind Colorado Springs in the Western states with approximately 12% of households in a food crisis. But what about Palo Verde Neighborhood (PVN) - our neighborhood - could there be neighbors in need? Families, veterans, or seniors? Let’s find out.
The PVNA Board would like to look at food insecurity in our neighborhood. The team will start their research by looking at City of Tucson programs, what other neighborhoods are doing, and by defining the PVN need. Then we will consider a variety of options to reduce (or eliminate) food insecurity in our PVN.
A team has begun to form. Would you like to get involved? Email your PVNA Southwest Quadrant Rep Nancy at pvnaswquad@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more or joining this effort.
