AP CAPSTONE Requests for Expert Advisers
Dear PVPUSD Community:
Each year, juniors and seniors from PVHS and PVPHS take Advanced Placement (AP) Research, a multi-disciplinary class that is the second of the two-year AP Capstone course. As part of this course, we conduct thorough, original independent research culminating in the writing of our own college-level academic papers and presenting our work to a panel audience.
To help us facilitate this research, we are allowed to be in contact with Expert Advisors - faculty members, academics, those of higher education, and the like. Within the larger community of our school district is a wide network of such professionals that we'd be humbled and grateful to call our Expert Advisors.
Each student has compiled a list of people they'd like to work with. Whether it's getting advice, an interview, access to specific resources, or mentorship, your help is greatly appreciated. Beside each student's name is their preferred method of contact.
Please review THIS DOCUMENT. Each topic makes varied (and some overlapping) requests. Included in the document is the College Board's guidelines for the role of Expert Advisers. If you can help, please use this FORM to submit your contact information.
THANK YOU! |
for important information and counseling resources available to students
while distance learning.
Grades
Remember! The next set of interim grades are going to be submitted by teachers soon and will be available to view on November 16th. There are only 5 weeks of school before finals. Make sure that you are staying on top of your work and communicating with your teachers when you need help. If you are having trouble finding the support you need, please reach out to your counselor.
Parents
A presentation was given on "Managing the Emotions of Distance Learning". It was recorded during the presentation and can be viewed HERE. Also, if you see your student is struggling, and they are not asking for help, please reach out to your counselor to discuss how we can help to support them.

As a South Bay Families Connected partner school district, our teens have access to the new SBFC Virtual Teen Center. This was created by local teens from the South Bay community who understand the challenges that teens are facing during these current times. These teens have produced videos and curated resources to help support teens mental health and wellness. It is their goal to help others with practicing self-care and kindness, encourage teens to connect with their passions and remind the teen community they are not alone during these challenging times.
