JULY 2026

Hey love!

Happy

Canada

Day!

Let's continue

Indigenous

History

Month

on

Canada Day.

While celebrating what Canada is to so many people, whether you are First Nations, Métis, Inuit, settler or newcomer, I hope you find time to reflect on the history of Canada as a leader and geo-political ally in diversity, human rights, gender and sexuality inclusion, justice, and healthcare.

I love being

Canadian!

Here's the update on everything happening at

163 Queen Street East

and community partners.

We'd love to hear your thoughts!

Please meet one of our amazing volunteers, Stella (she/her)!

Originally from Cameroon, Stella arrived in Canada in June 2024, joining the PWA volunteer team in March 2025. Stella brings a rich cultural and linguistic background to her work, speaking English, Spanish, and French fluently.

Outside of volunteering, Stella has a deep passion for cooking and enjoying well-prepared food—a love that runs in the family. She fondly remembers her grandmother, who also adored cooking and always kept a pot full of food ready for visitors and guests. At her grandmother’s house, the pot was simply never empty!

When asked what draws her to PWA, Stella shares that she deeply values how much people notice and appreciate the hard work she puts in. She notes that she is "appreciated every second, every minute. Even folks who are very busy like, Nester, they always make time to express their appreciation."

Ultimately, volunteering has been a wonderful way for Stella to build a new network and find a true sense of belonging. As she puts it: "You come with your whole heart. PWA is a good place. They attend to everybody. They don't minimize you."

Thank you, Stella, for bringing your whole heart to PWA every single day!
