Truman Scholarship 2023

Penn juniors (as well as first- and second-year students) are invited to learn about the Truman Scholarship, which seeks juniors who are “change agents” who are working to address a local, national, or international issue they believe needs to be changed and who are planning a career working for a non-profit organization (which could be in government, education or any organization whose website does NOT end in .com). Recipients may use the funds for graduate study in any field. Applicants must be US citizens (by the date of the award) and apply for the Truman Scholarship in the fall of their junior year by November 28, 2023, at 4:00 pm.

An overview of the application process (including a sample application and example responses) can be found at https://www.truman.gov/apply/advice-guidance. Clarifying your goals, discussing your plans with your Penn and non-Penn mentors, identifying how you intend to contribute to solving the problem you are working on, and writing your application takes time, so applicants should START EARLY to give yourself the best chance at success by scheduling an appointment to meet with Truman advisor, Dr. Angie Estévez.
