PWRDF named to Charity Intelligence Top 100 List | |
Charity Intelligence's Top 100 list empowers Canadians to make informed donation decisions, and PWRDF is proudly recognized for its transparency and effective work. The list showcases smaller charities making a significant impact, demonstrating that size isn't everything when it comes to making a difference. By conducting thorough research and evaluations, Charity Intelligence ensures donors can trust their contributions are being utilized effectively and promotes integrity in the charitable sector.
PWRDF is thrilled to be on this list, recognizing our commitment to transparency and effective work!

Tree Guardians for life
Colombia's Páramos, high-altitude moorlands, provide 70% of the country's fresh water and are crucial for environmental preservation. However, tree species extinction threatens the delicate ecosystem, putting future access to food and water at risk. ILSA, a partner of PWRDF, is working with local women to safeguard trees, preserve seeds, and ensure food security for generations to come. This initiative protects the environment and demonstrates the strength of community dedication to preserving the Páramos, ensuring the long-term sustainability of this vital resource.

Turning up the volume on climate change
The Amazon region faces threats from deforestation, agriculture, drug trafficking, mining, and cattle ranching. To raise awareness, PWRDF and WACC launched the "Voices of the Amazon" project, supporting community radio networks in Colombia, Ecuador, and Brazil. The project aims to strengthen local communication and advocacy capacities, promoting grassroots participation in environmental policy-making. Despite communication challenges, the network is informing local communities, producing content in local languages, and highlighting local knowledge and culture.
